Devin Harris and his Turnovers

I'm getting sick of all of Devin Harris' turnovers. I know it's preseason, but the guy is averaging 5 per game in just over 25 minutess of action. Not a good sign. Especially given the fact he is playing with VC, and the starting unit. If he was playing with bench players throughout the 25 mins, I wouldn't mind, but this is getting ridiculous. If you're so-called PG can't keep possession of the ball, it just causes others around him to turn the ball over too. Either DHarris needs to smarten up, or we need to move him to backup VC at SG since he seems to like to shoot so much. I'm all for him to play the point if he wants to play the proper way, but if he's going to try to be like Starbury of 2004, I don't want him to start at the point. Just my opinion on his gruesome ball handling thus far...

It's not really his ball handling that's the problem. As I pointed out in the game thread, he just keeps making unnecessary extra passes under the basket or on a drive into the defense's hands.

Let's not go too far, he's still a good PG and should definitely start. He just needs to improve his decision making and he'll be fine. The guy is a score first PG, I don't get why some of the guys here thought he would suddenly make the transition to pass first or something. He needs to balance his scoring and his passing, and there will be plenty of turnovers on the way as he learns which passes are smart and need to be made and which shouldn't.

Devin is playing with a lot of new players, you need time to gain a familiarity with them. Most of his turnovers have been because he doesn't have a flow of the other guys not because of his ballhandling.

I expect him to have a really high assist/TO ration early in the season.

Actually Brook Lopez turned out to be a great pick judging by his play so far. We now have a big man we can build around. Bayless would have been great to have but he's basically the same as Harris: score first. Harris is better PG than him.

No way. I couldn't be happier with Lopez, at the moment. It's early, of course, but he looks like a real keeper.
