Kings Center Dewayne Dedmon wants out. He's severely underachieving this year, making 13.3M this year, and owed the same next, but is only guaranteed $1M in the 21-22 season. If the powers that be still plan on trying to compete this season, might he be a target as a reclamation project to bolster our severely depleted front line?

Similarly, Cory Joseph is also underachieving in Sacramento at $12M/year (2.4 guar 21-22), but he is a veteran PG who could conceivably stabilize our bench. In theory, Baze/Tolliver (or Mario) for Joseph/Dedmon could make sense, though it would be a lot of money to gamble on a pair of (currently) single-digit PER players.

This trade would be worth pursuing.

Dedmon + Bjelica + Swanigan + 2021 SFP (Memphis) -> Whiteside + Tolliver

Swanigan & Tolliver are just filler for the trade to work. Kings give up Bjelica (a decent player on a reasonable contract) & their best 2021 SRP to dump the dead weight of Dedmon.

The trade saves Portland ~$6.5m in salary (which equates to an additional ~$15m in taxes). This offsets the added salary of Dedmon for next season. If Dedmon can get back to a rotation level player, then Portland comes out ahead here.

Swanigan back? Nah

Agreed--getting Bjelica would be a massive coup. I wouldn't think he would be a realistic return for an expiring, tbh.

Bjelica is the only player there that looks even remotely good

I don't want yet another stopgap big. Just call this season a wash and plan for next season.

The only player I want from SAC is Bogdanovic.
I don't personally get the love for Bogdanovic.
The Kings games that I've watched (admittedly few), he's been pedestrian. Sell me on him...

Deadly shooter with a good skillset who would be the perfect 6th man. Average defensively, but has really high BBIQ. Probably the best player among all the teams of the World Championship tournament last summer that featured the likes of Jokic/Mitchell/Tatum/etc.

Here's what he did in extended mins against us this season:

And Dame loves him.
