What a terrible ending. A once great show just ruined. Lame.

I'm almost through season 7...I guess it's good to know to set low expectations for the ending.

I watched the first two episodes of this season and that was enough. Read about the ending.. That's fucking ridiculous. So glad I didn't waste time watching this season.

Is the serial killer going to kill his kid? or is there a bro code amounst serial killers?

she? lol. damn feminists. always trying to get a piece of dat azz.

I remember how it turns out. Poindexter and Felix save the Professor from the Master Cylinder who is chasing them around on the Moon.

easy to forget now this was a pretty good show S1-4. not sure what happened but it certainly digressed into a bunch of unintended comedy after that.

The executive producer/writer/showrunner left after season 4.

I just finished the series tonight. It was fine. A better pay-off than Lost, IMO. I never considered this show at the level of The Wire or Breaking Bad because it was such a ridiculous premise from Season One, anyhow. Breaking Bad does have a ridiculous premise, sure, but it is much more believable than Season One of Dexter. I saw it as a cartoonish show, and in that, I enjoyed it. So many times Dexter should have been caught in the previous seasons, yet he always got away, sometimes apparently with his vehicle still on-site. The entire Doakes frame was unbelievable, so from that point forward, I just enjoyed the sociology of the series, and not the realism of it.

To me, this show was like watching a horror spoof, and thinking of it that way, I enjoyed it. You just have to pretend that nobody has alarm system in their houses, only one guy has surveillance cameras (Albert), and that Dexter can pick any lock in the world to roam around the homes of his victims/targets.

I liked Season Six with Colin Hanks a lot, fwiw, yet that seems to be an unpopular season. The Lithgow season was the best, IMO. I also like Julia Stiles in anything, and she was great as Lumen.

I just finished this series a few weeks ago also, and I thought it was a terrible ending. This show went downhill after Rita died, in fact the Rita death season wasnt very good either but her death was a big enough surprise twist to make up for the season.

If you were watching Dexter on Showtime as it came out, waiting for each episode to come out, you'd probably be a lot more disappointed.

I almost completely lost interest at the beginning of season 7, but I toughed it out til the end.. And now I wish I hadn't.

The last season was just awful.

I really only watched the last two seasons because I was invested in the series. If I had to wait every week I would have lost interest just like I did with Boardwalk Empire this season.

agreed, but you're comparing Dexter to the worst payoff of all time in any series, one who's depths of disappointment and stupidity would be virtually impossible to duplicate.

final season of Dexter was still pretty stupid, just less painful since expectations were pretty low going in.

After watching the whole series, I watched episode 1 from season 2 at a buds house recently and the show has changed so dramatically its kinda like when you see someone everyday you don't notice them changing as much but it was pretty jarring. The later seasons are like a soap opera, with really no interesting art direction or dialog, I forgot how artsy they were in the first few seasons with camera angles/ filters/ etc. And his inner monologue was interesting and poignant, by the end it was just used to explain the stupid "plot"

"I need to get rid of this body before so and so blah blah"

they should have cancelled this turd 4 or 5 seasons earlier, kinda liked the finale though, leaves you with something to think about
