I like to think it depends on the situation. I don't expect the worst from my children, wife, career, health, etc. Maybe after so many times of being let down by something you love then you put up that imaginary wall. Sounds like you are a good husband and father. And in the end, that's really all that matters. As for the Blazers... Well I have that outlook on everything that is dear to me. The Blazers being one of them. So I take that same "optimism" you explained about your family and use it on my team. Yep my kids and wife sometimes let me down, but I always hoped for the best. Just like the Blazers. There have been many times I was let down; but I stand by them and the players. Especially those that had those "great moments" I've remembered as a fan.

To me, it's even worth more than rebuilding. I don't ever want to see Roy wearing another team's Jersey, just like I hated seeing Wallace and Drexler wearing one. Even though, I know this is a business and these things happen.
