Trump gift wrapped a naval and submarine base on the Suez Canal for the Russian navy...Putin won that chess match already...Russia has always wanted a base on the Mediterranean and that one is right at the Canal across from Turkey, near the pipeline....yeah..no brainer. I doubt Putin gives a shit about Kurds or Iranian militias

Not the Suez Canal which is in Egypt and nowhere near Turkey.

The strike came as Trump was hosting Xi in meetings focused in part on another pressing U.S. security dilemma: North Korea’s nuclear program. Trump’s actions in Syria could signal to China that the new president isn’t afraid of unilateral military steps. even if key nations like China are standing in the way.

Lanny...Syria is very near Turkey...where do you think the Kurdish conflict is? Having a navy base in Syria puts Russia not far from the Canal or the pipeline to Turkey....a hell of a lot closer than the Black Sea...we all know the port isn't in Egypt...but close enough..Russia has not had a port with that access between the Mediterranean and Asia before now. To them it's a game changer sort of like us having Guam as a naval base in the Pacific.....very strategic naval base
