- Amazing Story. This girl who I had a major crush on (ended up being a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader) - Asked me to go skinny dipping with her. I was 16, I said I couldn't go because I was too busy.
She literally showed up at my door in a bikini and I said no. My dad who was a pastor at a Church at the time, when I closed the door, goes well the proves it, "He's either gay or the dumbest kid ever".
So the answer is no, but if I was a smarter 16-year-old the answer would be yes... I talked with her throughout my 20's and she never forgave me for not asking her out, and not doing anything with her.
18. Gone Streaking? No.
19. Flashed a BA while over 15 years old? no
20. Been Parasailing? No

10. Know where the first Sears store was in Portland? Just off MLK and I-80.
11. Who's was the Blazers first playoff foe? The Chicago Bulls with Artis Gilmore
12. How many games did it go? 5. It was far and away the toughest series in the championship run.

14. Ever been to Snow Bunny Lodge? No. Skiing sucked.
15. Seen a MLB game? Go Giants!!
16. Was the leading scorer for the Timbers the year (Whole Year) they went to Soccer Bowl USA? Confusing question but Peter Withe (The Mad Header) was their leading scorer. He came to the team a few days late. And for extra points, I actually attend the ‘75 Soccer bowl in San Jose.

1. Rode every ride at both Jantzen Beach and Oaks park;
2. Attended a soap box race in Oswego. Also, road a skate board back when you had to make them yourself out of roller skates.
3. Attended plenty of Beavers games back before the Mavericks;
4. Not sure. Been pulled over so many times that it's very likely but just can't recall explicitly;
5. Skipped school on senior skip day but can't recall where we went except that it wasn't on a river;
6. We use to eat at a restaurant very near the the East end of the Sellwood bridge but can't remember the name. So many great Portland restaurants that are gone now. The Republic, Hung Far Lo, Quality Pie, Rose's, The Carnival, Gene and Joe's, the Crab Bowl, Henry Ford's, Farelll's, the cafe on the tenth floor of Meier and Frank, The Refectory, The Pagoda, Yaw's Top Notch, Wadell's, Manning's Cafeteria, The Original Coney Island in downtown Portland, Top of the Cosmo, the restaurants at the Thunderbird Inns, one near the Memorial Coliseum the other in Jantzen Beach, speaking of Jantzen beach, have you ever swam in their outdoor swimming pool?, The Tunnel cafe, there was another cafe and gas station near zig zag that featured a bear that would drink any soda pop that you would buy for it, Shakey's pizza, a broasted chicken joint in early 1950's Oswego, there are others that I'll have to name some other time but gotta go to dialysis right now.

The VQ still exists but the old building was torn down for “progress”. The new VQ is in a newer building in the general vicinity.

Glad to hear someone still remembers the Buckaroos. I still miss them dearly. Every now and again there’s an obit in the Oregonian for one of the old timers. So many stayed here after their playing days were over.

I worked on the boiler at Pittock Mansion as a teen. The basement would have made a great roller rink.

The Canby Ferry is still around, along with the Wheatland Ferry at Salem.

The Oregon City elevator is a genuine treasure. My wife is an OC girl and if they ever built condos on the bluff within walking distance of the elevator, we’d move to OC in a heartbeat. It’s turned into a great little town. Boring factoid....I was offered an interview to be an OC elevator operator back in 1976. 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, at just over minimum wage. I said no thanks....

The Hillvilla is now the Charthouse. The view is still way better than the food.......

And the Cara Amico is still there. It’s John Crapzano’s favorite restaurant.....or so they’re paying him to say. Or maybe that’s history. I haven’t followed the guy in years.

Wow, thanks for all of this!

Then, there's the train trestle between Lake Oswego and Milwaukie. I partied in that thing on more than one occasion. Heh.

Veritable Quandry is gone.
Buckaroos were a favorite of my father and my younger brother.
Never been on the Canby Ferry.
I rode the O. City Ferry once about 60-65 years ago.
I've been going to Caro Amico for about 60 years. Took my wife there about a year or two ago.
I've got several other favorites by no time now.

Have you ever:

1) Ice skated @ Lloyd Center

2) Roller skated @ Oaks Park

3) Go Karts @ Jantzen Beach

4) Bet on the dogs @ Portland Meadows

5) Had a Spanish Coffee @ Hubers

I remember Portland's first Sears store. It was their regional headquarters until they sold the building.
I saw what might have been Oregon's first streaker in 1965 at O.S.U.

1, 2, 3, 4 yes,
Rather than a Spanish coffee I prefer Portland's own coffee nudge.
