Couple things. I didn't see the restricted line. Step on it and it's blocking no matter what.
Block charge is actually an easy call to make. First the referee must have an open look. This referee is stacked and looking at asses and elbows. Think of our view:
Is the defender legal? (both feet facing the offense while squarely in front. The defense may move to maintain legal guarding position)
Does the offense go TO and THROUGH the defender.
Affirmative answers to both questions = Charging.
Any negative answer = Blocking
I believe both calls were good calls.
OK thanks for confirming that I do know the rule.

Keep in mind I said both plays could have gone either way, not that they were bad calls.
The reason I say that was when I went back at the timeout and looked at the last foul on Kanter.....(and I watched it about 5 times) I felt the defender's heal was squarely on the line. Again I do not expect the refs to see it in real time, but none the less that is why I said it could have gone either way. Certainly not an "easy call to make".
As for foul #3 (in the 2nd quarter) I felt like Kanter went TO the defender but not Through. (He took a step to his left and put up the shot to draw the foul) I am probably wrong on that particular play but I hate when the offensive player is starting to step to the side of the defender instead of running through him, but the defender flops and they call a charge. I just hate the rule. I think it should be no-call.
