This movie was nothing like coverfield.

My bad. I meant to say that the camera style is similar to Cloverfield- the hand-held style that makes some people want to hurl.

going 2moro night, one of the cinemas with the kickback seating, mega comfort, and they serve you wine :) and the girl im going with is paying - makings of a good night....

Great, great movie. The acting, originality, and story are so much better than Cloverfield. Very intense. I didn't see it as political at all, rather it showed how fucked up we are as people. It's amazing they made it for only 30million, the special effects were better than Transformers/Wolverine/etc.

One of the best movies I've seen this year, right up there with The Hurt Locker.

It was ok...kind of contrived IMO...but the concept was interesting if a little preachy...

Really, humanity is that bad? That simplistic in our motives? I don't think so...

I thought the main actor did a good job and special effects\actio was pretty good...story...eh...so so...

Here is hoping for a better District 10....

I thought Star Trek was one of the better movies I saw this year...and I expected it to be mediocre and I thought it was pretty good....Haven't seen a lot of the movies that have come out this year though

Do you live in a bubble with no knowledge of the past or of current events? I'm not saying there aren't a lot of good people, but yes, humanity is that bad. The thirst for advanced weapons and MONEY would cause people to act like that. And I can say that definitively because we have time and time again in the past regarding far inferior technology than that portrayed in the movie.

Great movie.

Blaze01: Hypothetically, if there was a half alien/half man thing out there, do you honestly think it wouldn't be taken for testing resulting from cloak & dagger operations?

We are terrible as people, basically savages, we've gotten better throughout ages but we kill other people like there is no tomorrow. (just check out the news daily)

testing..yeah probably...but killing him to harvest his organic matter...that is a stretch....

Do you sit in a dark room watching the X-files everyday and scanning the web for any\all conspiracies?

Cause some...not all...yeah some people are that bad...MOST people are not...

What a bunch of pessimists here...you must be democrats...

and I would like to add that the idea that aliens would come here and then a corporation would be in charge of them to be preposterous..

yeah I could see the countries of the world letting a corporation handle the whole thing..uh huh...sure...

I don't think there should be a sequel. What else is there to say?

Oh, you mean like how Executive Outcomes handled the rebels of Sierra Leone? Obviously we've never had Aliens, but smaller countries have turned to PMC's to handle matters that are above their capabilities.

Director: "Remember that time I made a shitload of money for the both of us with 'District 9'?"

Studio Head: "Yep."

Director: "I'd like to make another shitload of money for the both of us with 'District 10'."

Studio Head: "What's the movie about?"

Director: "Does it matter?"

Studio Head: "Nope."

I don't even understand where this is coming from... I'm not talking about conspiracies, I'm talking about reality. This sort of thing is documented throughout history.

Cause some...not all...yeah some people are that bad...MOST people are not...

Well for some reason you deleted my previous sentence which clearly stated: "I'm not saying there aren't a lot of good people, but yes, humanity is that bad." The sci-fi film we're talking about had a few good people in it, but the majority of those in the movie were either MNU/military or the slum Warlord and his men. They are the relevant people in the film and they're evil. That hardly means everyone in the world is evil, as they don't even represent .0001 of Earth's population. But they still did a lot of damage.

Power and greed corrupt, and those in power typically have the most impact on humanity. It doesn't take very many evil men to create huge crimes against humanity or massive human rights violations. This would be even worse if the victims weren't even human and had something of massive importance to those in power.

Whether it's a private corporation, an international organization, or governments themselves, the point is that those in charge of the operation would undoubtedly try to exploit the new technology. I mean we're talking about huge amounts of power and money. Good people have killed over far far less, and you don't think the powers that be would kill a man to harvest his organic matter in order to get this alien technology?

Keep blazin' buddy. Ignorance is bliss.

No way I am going. I could tell from preview it is a camera shaking piece of shit. I know people who don't experience brain scramble when they do that don't understand... but I wish they'd have to put warnings on that crap so I could know to avoid it.

Only part of it has camera shake. Maybe 1/3 of it.

this was a great movie? i just don't think so.

it was decent and entertaining enough, but i wouldn't ever pay money to see it again. the effects were nice and the story was ok, but that doesn't make a great movie to me.

It was very good. Not the greatest movie I've ever seen but definitely one worth watching. The average critics rating is B+ that's pretty good for a summer blockbuster with a lot of cgi.

That movie was cool. Just got back. Well done, great story.

Forget the camera style. This movie was horrendous in so many ways I can't even begin to count them.

Want to see heads exploding in technicolor detail? Want to see a man bite his own fingernails off? Hey, better yet, want to see them fall off on their own? Want to see a man's teeth fall out, or want to see him vomit black blood all over his birthday cake? Want to see him grow a grotesque alien claw for a hand, then chop it off with a hatchet? Want to see huge sores erupt all over his body, and blood draining from all of them? Want to see him forced to murder aliens against his will? Want to see his own father-in-law order his execution, and his own wife turn on him? Want to see him endlessly screaming in pain?

Oh, yeah, it's a total joyride.

Exactly! Top notch cinema!!!

It all makes so much sense now, it's not Obamacare that you hate, it's the site of blood.

Actually it was your "technicolor" comment that tells us all we need to know,
Technicolor is the trademark for a series of color film processes pioneered by Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation (a subsidiary of Technicolor, Inc.), now a division of Thomson SA. Technicolor was the second major color film process, after Britain's Kinemacolor, and the most widely used color motion picture process in Hollywood from 1922 to 1952. Technicolor became known and celebrated for its hyper-realistic, saturated levels of color, and was used commonly for filming musicals (such as The Wizard of Oz and Singin' in the Rain), costume pictures (such as The Adventures of Robin Hood and Joan of Arc), and animated films (such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Fantasia).

Compared to Snow White and Wizard of Oz I can see why District 9 scared the living shit out of you. :biglaugh:

Do you want your rank stripped from you, Private?!

Are mods not allowed to laugh at one poster giving another poster a bad time?

I didn't actually insult Shooter...

The movie was jokes. All I wanna know is how the fuck they understood what the prawns were saying? Did they learn that shit in school?

So if your employer was willing to pay you to learn a different language you'd say no because you weren't still in school?

Well, the prawns were around for almost 20 years so I guess they started to learn their language and vise versa.
