That way they can keep the fan vote for the top five players and makes as many selections as possible from the coaches. Would also make guys earn spots instead of getting in because they are the best in a weak conference.

Kobe is a big Lillard fan. Wouldn't be surprised if Kobe chooses to sit it out.

Just do it the week before the finals (gives both teams a rest that are playing). The way the NFL does it is correct.
I also thought it would be interesting to just pick a captain from the east and a captain from the west...say Lebron and Steph..toss a coin and let them pick teams one player at a time. Toss a coin to see who picks first...just like when we were kids. Could pick from either conference.

That is doable. Why not just get rid of the game and have a beach volleyball tournament with the players with the top gun soundtrack being played through giant speakers? That's something I'd watch. Becky Hammond could coach the west, in her bikini.

I'd like to get rid of conferences, and divisions completely. Everyone plays each other an equal number of times, and the 16 teams with the best records make the playoffs.

Sometimes I even wish it were only an 8 team field for the playoffs

Shit maybe it's time we do away with East vs West and become an ABC (american basketball conference) vs NBC (national basketball conference). Restructure the league.

The CBS (Continental Basketball System) would not approve of being left out.

After the regular season, the American Basketball Champion and the National Basketball Champion would compete in the Championship Basketball Series, prior to which the best players would participate in the Fan-favorite Observation eXhibition.

All inclusive enough for you?

Both of those champions need to get through the Globe Trotters would be my addition ..ABA without the WNBA ball though

Change to five geographical divisions. I had a number of posts on it months ago. There's a good sbnation article on it.

I'd rather see less all stars. 10 for each team. Have two starters voted by fans, 3 starters picked by players and 5 reserves picked by coaches; but only allow reserves who haven't played in the game the two previous season. It would mean more if it was rare. Now it's a snub instead of an honor.

What, no Breakout Basketball Competition?

Good call--that would be the 4-day, single elimination tourney between the 16 worst teams to determine draft position, and try to earn the bottom two playoff spots.

But that's it. No Televised National Tournament or Tournament of Basketball Stars, sponsored by the Universal Sportsmanship Association. I have my limits!

Do away with the whole frickin' waste of time and money altogether!

All Star Game = United Nations = Tits on a nun.

A for Effort! I struggled with a FOX acryonym that didn't contain a F-bomb.

February 19, 1948 at Chicago Stadium: Globetrotters 61, Lakers 59
March 14, 1949 at Minneapolis Auditorium: Lakers 68, Globetrotters 53

Those were great games.
