I'm wondering why there hasn't been (a) an official announcement of the signing, followed by (b) a massive trade to bring in an All-NBA point guard yet.

Yes we have to wait. There's still a small chance that Raja Bell could fail his physical and the Jazz would then match. Not likely, but still a chance nonetheless.

Just waiting on Bell passing his physical. Could happen today, could happen tomorrow. I'm guessing we'll know before Monday, and then have the Tony Parker press conference on Tuesday!

The Jazz actually have until COB Tuesday to decide about Matthews. Evidentally we delivered the offer by Pony Express.

Not official for a week after the actual signing or the Raja Bell signing becomes official, which is why the Chris Paul trade hasn't happened yet.

I thought we were having to wait til Tuesday.

I think if Utah officially signs Bell, they automatically forfeit matching rights to Matthews since they'll be unable to match.

I think technically they can make a trade to get under the cap enough to sign Matthews also. (Not that I think they will though)

Wouldn't they need to get 9 Million under the cap?

They have till 5 PM Tuesday I think.

He's planning on flying here on Wednesday. (don't remember the link)

Wheels just said that on his show too.

I will say that Borne didn't sound absolute about the date though. He said something like "we believe it is close of business today."

SALT LAKE CITY (AP)—Raja Bell(notes) signed a contract with the Utah Jazz on Monday, saying he’s happy to return to Salt Lake City.

“For me, it’s a no-brainer,” the 33-year-old shooting guard said. “I was chomping at the bit to come back here and play. It doesn’t hurt that I got a good deal.”

Bell signed a three-year deal Monday worth about $10 million.

I think this means he passed his physical.
