Do we want change, or appeasement?

what fucking excuses? There was a thread about this at least two months ago. OBVIOUSLY the president is going to choose people who have been high-ranking officials in other administrations. His guys will be their deputies. In about 18 months, the initial appointees will transition out, once Obama's guys have enough experience to lead things themselves. That's how you get newly-trained officials. The next time a democrat wins an election, the same pattern will repeat.

What administration was Richardson in before Clinton, or any of Clinton's cabinet for that matter? Or any of Reagan's cabinet?

I think you know I'm talking about the tone of your writing, not the tone of your voice.

Then you don't "hear" me and I don't "sound" some specific way. BTW, it's interesting how you believe you can discern tone from a post. I'm not bitter at all, and unfortunately for you, you're just going to have to live with that fact.

Go back and look at other administrations; it's simply not true. There are, of course, some exceptions, but in this case the exceptions appear to be the rule. However, not that you've drunk the Kool-Aid, now you're going to defend every move.

Realize you've been hoodwinked.

that's awesome. Can you guess what number I'm thinking of also?

Clinton's cabinet is a bad example; it is universally recognized that Clinton's administration was a horrible mess for the first 18 months until they figured out what they were doing. I'd hope that no one would want to emulate that!

Right. Forgive me for using words in ways that every native English speaker understands perfectly. I'm sure it was confusing for you to have me talk about how your posts "sound". I didn't use the word "hear", though, so that one is a strawman.

As for you being bitter (or not), I have no way of knowing, and I didn't make any assertions about that one way or the other.

Uh oh. It looks like someone doesn't like smart ass responses used by anyone else but them.

Oh, did you "hear" something in my tone? Time to get a new tinfoil hat.

It's a full-blown case of butthurt. When you get some new tinfoil, grab some Preparation H as well. Preparations A through G don't seem to work.

Actually, I was impressed with how well they got up and running considering the nightmare situation the Bush Sr. Administration dumped on them.

Eerie how history repeats itself.

I didn't see the poll.

I vote "appeasement".

Fuck change.

Do just enough to keep people from getting really upset at the system and give the system some time to bounce back and remind people of why we're the wealthiest country in the history of the world.

We're not.

Not even close.

As you can see, those horrible "Socialist" countries with free health care for all citizens are much wealthier, and have a much higher standard of living than us.

Who'd have thunk?

The [recent] onrush of technology largely explains the gradual development of a "two-tier labor market"... Since 1975, practically all the gains in household income have gone to the top 20% of households... The rise in GDP in 2004 and 2005 was undergirded by substantial gains in labor productivity... Long-term problems include inadequate investment in economic infrastructure, rapidly rising medical and pension costs of an aging population, sizable trade and budget deficits, and stagnation of family income in the lower economic groups. -CIA factbook on the US economy, 2005.

The United States has one of the widest rich-poor gaps of any high-income nation today, and that gap continues to grow.

In recent times, some prominent economists including Alan Greenspan have warned that the widening rich-poor gap in the U.S. population is a problem that could undermine and destabilize the country's economy and standard of living.

Image:SKYROCKET BAR GRAPH INEQUALITY.jpg Median Wages have been on the decline in the United States since 1974. In 2004, the median income for a man in his 30s was $35,010. Adjusted for inflation, that's 12 percent less than what men the same age were making in 1974.
