yup...you try to play it..its very hard and takes a lot of talent..maybe it isnt exciting but even the things labeled as sports like football are BORING because they spend more time with commercials then the actual game
 
Hell yeah!! I mean they dont have to run around and stuff. but they do walk for hours, the hardest thing about golf is the mental game. It can really knock you around.
 
Yes, I do consider it a sport, and although it may be excruciatingly boring to watch on TV, it is really fun and relaxing to play... not to mention it's harder then it looks.

I mean yes it's a sport, it takes skills to accomplish and be successful at it. I hate when people question whether a sport is a sport because they find it boring or not similar in nature to baseball/basketball/football. Sports don't have to revolve around those.
 
I dont think its a sport..you're not engaging in any physical activity whatsoever. You're just standing there swinging at a ball. I consider it a hobby more than a sport.

I agree with Rok, just because it doesn't have as much physical activity or excitement as basketball or say football, doesn't mean you can't call it a sport.
 
you dont have to be like fast, at least like condition well like you know what i mean?
 
I consider golf a sport, i mean it's probaly one of the tougher sports to play. It may not look like it but when you play it it's pretty tough. Just because it isen't the most exciting sport in the world to watch on tv does not mean its not a sport. Its really fun to play though i agree with everyone who said golf is fun to play
 
For everybody who doesn't think it's a sport... go play a few rounds of gold and then tell me it isn't a sport.

golf is a sport...any kid can stand 10 feet from a hoop and get lucky and make a couple shots, any kid can catch a football once in a while and and kid can make contact with a baseball...and thats all without practice. Now put that same kid with a golf club and see if he can hit a ball 300 yards or land it on a green 150 yards away. The kid will look a lot better at "real" sports than golf.and if you think golfers arent fit take a look at Tiger...he is a beast.
 
I've seen guys like T.O. swing a golf club, and..my little sister could do better.. :doh: So its alot harder than it looks, and it takes patience, and practice to suceed..
 
Yeah, golf is not easy at all. I occasionally go to the driving range with my dad and right from the start you can tell that it takes a lot of patience and practice. It's difficult for me to get even close to 150.
 
I consider golf a sport, but most everyone else's reasoning for golf being a sport is kinda irrelevent. Okay, golf is hard, so it is a sport. Completing a rubik's cube is hard! It's a sport too! Writing code in C++ can be hard, so that must be a sport!I think golf is lacking somewhat in athleticism, but requires a great deal of hand eye coordination. I could get into other reasons for why I consider it a sport, but I don't care that much.
 
People have called it a hobby and that kinda stuff. I personally don't think it deserves to be a sport. And it's a far overtalked about sport. Wayyyyy too much golf. I personally don't like it, but if you've got luck and a good swing and aim, good for you, just GTFO my TV and GTFO my radio.
 
Of course it's a sport. It requires arm strength to stay competitive with the other golfers when they're driving the ball 300 yards. You can't do that without working out. I just played my first 18 hole round two weeks ago (DON'T ASK ME MY SCORE) And my shirt was drenched with sweat...probably b/c it was 3 in the afternoon and it was 95 degrees.

Just use roids, golf doesn't test, because it's a stupid "sport".

last hole, i hit the water hazard maybe 3 or 4 times...okay it was 6! Just glad they weren't my good balls.

I don't think it's a sport but more a fun and challenging activity/hobby. Just because it's hard doesen't make it a sport. Math can be hard and it's more a mental game(like someone said about golf on the first page) and there are Mathletes, but is it a sport? No. I know it's hard but if anyone(14 year olds, obese middle-aged men) can play it professionally then I don't consider it a sport. I would like to play it though.

a sport requires physical activty and golf has that. Along with endurance, hand-eye coordination, and skill.
