That was good. They should have dumped the patriotic images and just showed the band playing.

A couple at the beginning and/or the end would have been ok but agree. I just love how much the guy gets into it. From what I hear he is former Navy.

I really enjoyed the bass line in that.

A bit of history.

This is the story of the very 1st personal version of the Usa Anthem, before Jimi hendrix, Aretha Franklin or Marvin Gaye ray Charles Whitney Houston. This version however destroyed his career: american radios, press and record companies stopped to play his records and boycotted his career, a career af a true genius then never has received all what he deserve

Jose Feliciano
Oct. 7, 1968
Puerto Rican blind singer/guitarist Jose Feliciano stunned the crowd at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, and the rest of America, when he strummed a slow, bluesy rendition of the national anthem before Game 5 of the World Series between Detroit and St. Louis. The 23-year-old's performance was the first nontraditional version seen by mainstream America, and it is generally considered the Lexington and Concord of Star-Spangled Banner controversies. The fiery response from Vietnam-weary America was not surprising, considering the tumultuous year for American patriotism. Good or bad, however, Feliciano's performance opened the door for the countless interpretations of the Star-Spangled Banner we hear today.

Very interesting, I never knew that. I love learning where creative genius is born and how cultural standards evolve. Repped.

Best ever was Marvin Gaye at the NBA Allstar game at The Forum in LA! 83 or 84! Classic!

You guys don't realize the lack of creativity before the hippy revolution. Frank Sinatra and all gorilla thugs hated Jose Feliciano. On the Dick Cavett Show, Sinatra and one of his goons called Feliciano a bad word. Drugs loosened up America. It's conservative still, but it was robotically conformist before we long-hairs opened all your minds.

I was too busy messing with the bowling alley girls to pay much attention...

The Metallica one is better than 99% of them and thanks for the Jose Feliciano story. I didn't know he was banned. He's a great singer. But do either anthems compare to these?

Blazers at Rose Garden (vs Timberwolves during 13 game win streak):

Blazers at Staples (Lakers):

I also did a playoff game between the Bulls and Cavs in Cleveland, but I can't find it. It has vanished from YouTube.

Any time Jim Cornelison sings the Anthem in Chicago it gets The Dude choked up.

Nothing beats Ray Charles singing America The Beautiful in my opinion.

How does he know if America is beautiful? That dude is blind! For all he knows, America is a cesspool filled with cock-a-roaches!
