"Said one Western Conference GM of Pritchard on Saturday: "(Bleep) that guy, he's walking around rubbing everyone's nose in the deals he's made and even with all those lottery players his team is still not in the playoffs."

Cause in all honesty theres no excuse for him to miss the playoffs. if these guys are so good, roy, oden, and akdridge....then we should at least get to round 1. sorry but the western gm is right. kp gets tons of praise but lets face it....its time his moves showed on the court and not just speculation on just how good this team is or will be. i heard the same thing about the "baby bulls" and look how that turned out.

seriously its time for KP to make a move to put us in the playoffs. however, after reading that quote above...i wonder if anyone will trade with us. seems like we have become despised throughout the NBA.

I wonder which GM said that. And is KP really that cocky, bragging about his deals? It doesn't sound like him.

I bet Pritchard is really not at all tired. In fact, I bet he wishes that more teams would freak out over what he did. You have to admit, it can be intimidating. Just when you think you can screw over a team, that team politely reminds you that their owner is worth 15 billion. Wouldn't you want to not piss them off? Some are probably thinking "shit, leave me out of this, junior!".

I think it's possible that people are just over reacting to things. like fans do all the time. this isn't something they just thought up on a whim. Is that what you honestly think? I don't think a minute went by without the Blazers consulting the right people. After all, this isn't a game. I trust KP, Penn, Miller and even Paul Allen. They haven't done anything that would be cause for me to doubt them. It is entertaining, regardless, don't you agree?

Remember, Canzano is now a legitimate source since he has poured oil on KP and set a match. :)

KP, run from this city as fast as you can. These people are nuts!

im sure theres a lot of gms who hate him

Whether or not that's true (and, of course, you have no idea), his job isn't to be liked by other GMs. GMs aren't going to turn down deals that they think will help their team just to spite Pritchard.

dont be so sure....if they were vindictive enough to sign and play miles....anythings possible

What is with these anonymous GMs? If they feel so strongly as to call KP names and denigrate him in front of media personnel, why don't they have the balls to come out in public and say it?

That would be the ultimate in Pritchslapping. Teams so desperate to get him back that they decline to make their own teams better, "just to show him."

I wouldn't hold my breath, if I were you.

Jealousy is more like it.

Totally. And/or poor reasoning skills.

When was Portland reasonably expected to make the playoffs with "all those lottery picks"?

This is KP's third year, right? I guess he COULD have made it last year, and if the Blazers were in the East we would have... but give me a break.

Jealousy. Sour grapes. Wussy quote.

Ed O.

I would have bet anything that it was McFail, but he's not GM anymore.

Is that before, or after we tell them they have no fucking clue?

Link or it didn't happen. :tsktsk:

Are you implying that he might have made up those quotes?

I'm implying that he has a history of embellishing, misconstruing or just flat out getting facts wrong.

Also in that article, another quote:
Instead, other league executives are asking stuff like, "Did that (bleep) really coin (the phrase) 'Pritch-slapped' by himself?"

(No. He didn't. The term was born in the mind of a Blazers fan after a series of Pritchard personnel moves. But you get the idea.)

Damn. KP isn't well liked, it seems.

I'd bet money that Canzano made that quote up. It sounds EXACTLY like Canzano. I don't think KP is the kind of person to rub his trades in, you know, since he's smart enough to realize he wouldn't be able to make trades if he did so. And would a GM really make such incendiary remarks about another GM to the beat writer of that team?

Something doesn't fit Canzano.

That is so obviously fabricated by Canzano. I doubt any GM's in the NBA have heard the term Pritchslapped and even if they had they would instantly brush it off like they do with 100% of what the fans come up with.

To answer the initial question. Yes, I do think Kevin Pritchard should feel pressure; this team needs something positive to take away all this attention. If a trade isn't made people will loudly and continuously question if it wasn't because of the email. The email will also be brought into question if a trade is made and it doesn't live up to fans expectations. Pritchard needs to publicly regain control of the franchise and bring something positive to this team.

The team is playing pretty damn good, but people are going to be talking about that email for a long time if something isn't done.

You need to consider the source.

Also from that article:

"And that the three drafts Pritchard handled for Portland he was given the resources to land five lottery picks."

Either Canzano can't count our he's too stupid and lazy to check his facts. The Blazers have gotten four players selected in the lottery in the last three drafts: Aldridge and Roy in 2006, Oden in 2007 and Bayless in 2008. Who is this phantom 5th lottery pick?

You see, if a so-called "journalist" can't even get simple, easily verified facts correct in his articles, then I automatically call into question everything he writes.

There is ONE major league sports team in this town. Anyone who has been writing a sports column for the local paper for the past several years should be able to recite from memory every draft pick the team has made while he's been here. Hell, most casual fans can tell you who the Blazers have picked in the last three drafts, but a guy who gets paid to write about the team, and gets paid BY THE TEAM to host a sports radio show can't? Well shit. At the very least he could have spent 30 seconds at nba.com looking it up.

I refuse to believe ANYTHING John Canzano writes citing anonymous sources. If he can't get well known, easily verifiable facts right, why should I believe him when uses completely unverifiable "sources" to support his arguments. He can make up whatever he wants and claim it happened exactly as he says it did. Given the way he plays loose with facts, I call bullshit and unless he cites a source, he can't prove otherwise.
