Do you think KP is feeling pressure? HE SHOULD.

I guess it's anyone's right to disbelieve what Canzano says . . . but taken into the context of the email, I don't have a problem believeing this would be GMs reactions.

Some of us were calling it as soon as the email became public. After that one GM came out publically about how much they were insulted by the email. PA blasted the Blazers. ESPN reported a western conference GM pissed about the email and other comments around the league about the email (almost all negative).

So yeah, Canzano's article can be disregrded because it is Canzano . . . but I think he is somehow turning into the scapegoat of a lot of frustrated fans.

I bet Pritchard is really not at all tired. In fact, I bet he wishes that more teams would freak out over what he did. You have to admit, it can be intimidating. Just when you think you can screw over a team, that team politely reminds you that their owner is worth 15 billion. Wouldn't you want to not piss them off? Some are probably thinking "shit, leave me out of this, junior!".

I think it's possible that people are just over reacting to things. like fans do all the time. this isn't something they just thought up on a whim. Is that what you honestly think? I don't think a minute went by without the Blazers consulting the right people. After all, this isn't a game. I trust KP, Penn, Miller and even Paul Allen. They haven't done anything that would be cause for me to doubt them. It is entertaining, regardless, don't you agree?

I LOL'ed
:ghoti:

I think Canzano is just trying to make up a story that matches the NBA's reaction as you described above. While I certainly think the rest of the NBA looks negatively on the Blazers because of this, the Canzano story just feels made up. To me the guy is just real easy to read (not his articles though), especially on the radio you can just see what he's trying to do every time.

Nobody ever said that.

Prove me wrong, give me a name, or go away.

seems like we have become despised throughout the NBA.

he continues to be a moron in the view of a lot of frustrated fans who'd rather have some more insight into their favorite team rather then just overt rumor mongering. Ever hear of the story of the boy who cried wolf?

I don't get why this guy still posts even when it's clear 95% of this board sincerely hates him...

Because he gets replies. He says jump and a lot of posters jump.

He dropped out of existence for a while, but he's back. He's been doing this for years.

Why again should Pritchard feel bad or take the blame for a phrase he niether created or nor endorses? I am a little confused as to how that is his fault?

What, do you think he calls other GM's and tells them "Prepare to be Pritch Slapped"? I guess if you are MIxum, you do.....

The latest "anonymous GM" quote says that the memo will have no lasting effect. GMs are still interested in Portland's goodies.

I hope he does say that the next time he talks to Chris Wallace on the phone. Maybe fragile Chris will have another sleepless night! :ohno:

he didn't drop out. he was banned on BBF but was obviously still lurking there since he showed up here within minutes of someone posting on BBF that everybody was moving to S2. was pretty funny actually. like a latent virus re-emerging.

BOLD - I agree 100%. The problem is we keep feeding this troll. He is the ultimate troll. And we feed him like a farrel cat.

Meow? Do I look like I drink milk from a saucer? .....moving all nimbly bimbly about!

whats sad is...because i dont agree with all of you...im a troll. sorry that i dont agree that this blazer roster is a playoff roster without a deal. sorry i agree with that gm on pritchard. all kp has done is put a team together. does it look nice? yes. but until they make the playoffs and win a series...it doesnt mean sh!t.

and whats really funny is... these same posters use to support jonny nash. i use to hear "give it time" and "bassys our future pg" and "the russians will be great role players".... so much crap thats its almost not funny.

i always killed nash and the other crap that was on our roster. the problem is, none of you had the guts to admit i was right years ago just like im right now. i remember just cause i didnt agree with everyone a few years back...i was a troll.

grow up... most of you just wanna see these nice little posts about how great bayless "is going to be" but the problem is.. deep down i say what you dont things you dont wanna admit....things you already know but wanna keep hoping will happen. Its the same reason you hate canzano. Because he says the things you dont wanna hear but are true. Im not breaking any damn rules so dont read my posts if you dont like it. Im not twisting your arms but stating an unpopular opinion. Maybe you enjoy MB finding positives when we are shooting 20% during the game? Well thats not me so get use to it or dont read.

I admit it. I agreed with you at the time.

We were right and they were wrong.

With that being said, if you see no difference between the team we have now and the team that Nash had assembled, I have to question whether you're paying attention. This team is younger and already much better than any that Nash slapped together.

Ed O.

ed, i think kp has doen a great job drafting. roy and aldridge look to be solid pieces for many years. roys inability to stay healthy could decide how long we are viewed as an upcoming team or contender. My problem is
i feel like KP is too stagnant with this current roster. Should we have an injury again to roy...we dont have another scorer to make up for it. Theres no way in hell we beat detroit or GS without him. The only reason we beat detroit was cause rip and sheed didn't play. Make no mistake. I feel like this team could go on a long losing streak which would finish our playoff chances. I want frye, outlaw, and sergio off this roster. i dont think we can make teh playoffs with them on our bench. They just arent winners. Roy is a winner. you saw the first game he ever played in a blazer uni. outlaw isnt and you could see that for 6 years. sergio is a step above nba d-league. frye is just absolute garbage. its dead weight. Im sick of kp saying "let the cake bake"...... what else do we need to see?

anyhow ed ...I always liked you as a poster on this board so that response i wrote didn't mean you because you were one of the few who also hated nash like me. you actually are one of the best posters on this board.

You need to consider the source.

Also from that article:

"And that the three drafts Pritchard handled for Portland he was given the resources to land five lottery picks."

Either Canzano can't count our he's too stupid and lazy to check his facts. The Blazers have gotten four players selected in the lottery in the last three drafts: Aldridge and Roy in 2006, Oden in 2007 and Bayless in 2008. Who is this phantom 5th lottery pick?

You see, if a so-called "journalist" can't even get simple, easily verified facts correct in his articles, then I automatically call into question everything he writes.

There is ONE major league sports team in this town. Anyone who has been writing a sports column for the local paper for the past several years should be able to recite from memory every draft pick the team has made while he's been here. Hell, most casual fans can tell you who the Blazers have picked in the last three drafts, but a guy who gets paid to write about the team, and gets paid BY THE TEAM to host a sports radio show can't? Well shit. At the very least he could have spent 30 seconds at nba.com looking it up.

I refuse to believe ANYTHING John Canzano writes citing anonymous sources. If he can't get well known, easily verifiable facts right, why should I believe him when uses completely unverifiable "sources" to support his arguments. He can make up whatever he wants and claim it happened exactly as he says it did. Given the way he plays loose with facts, I call bullshit and unless he cites a source, he can't prove otherwise.

BNM
I will join in the gang forming here that says if Canzano quotes an anonymous source, then that quote should be taken with a grain of salt.

Start with that premise due to Canzano's well established, long-time history of being a flat-out liar - and not giving a shit when he gets called out for it ("I am a columnist, not a reporter").

Add to it that these quotes don't really pass the "giggle test", of what your average GM would actually say to a douche writer.

Combine those together, and I can't put much stock into these extremely inflammatory quotes.

And, if the quotes are (more or less) accurate, they likely are embellished, and come from among the 2 or 3 worst GM's in the NBA and aren't reflective of the main body of NBA execs that matter the most now and in the future.

dont be so sure....if they were vindictive enough to sign and play miles....anythings possible

Who says there was any vindictiveness to it? You? What I see is a fairly normal situation where as the day approaches where temporary contracts become permanent, a lot of teams release players they do not want to take a risk on, and then sign them again after the weekend has passed. It happens all the time.

Secondlyl I would point out, the email sent out to other teams specifically said the Blazers would sue them if the goal of the team was to financially damage the Blazers. It says nothing about teams that are legitimately looking for players, which the Grizzlies obviously are. There was a huge amount of rumor that the team that was going to sign Miles in order to hurt the Blazers, was the Nuggets, our NW division rivals. You will note, that they didn't sign Miles did they? So maybe..just maybe that letter was meant for the Nugggets and Mark Warkentein (who used to work here and is probably pissed), and they could give a rats ass about Memphis signing Miles, because it is for legit reasons.
