Do you want to play the Lakers in the first round?

No thank you. I prefer to play a team (Dallas) we haven't lost to this year.

My playoff opponent preference:

1. Phoenix
2. Dallas
3. Denver
4. LA
5. Utah

Unfortunately, we are not in a position where we can choose.

I'll let the Blazers play them.

They're professionals after all.

Only if we can't get Dallas.

Depends on if they have Bynum or not. Its not that Bynum is really dominate, its just that he's another big that LA can throw out there that we don't have a defender for. I like our chances in that series with Camby guarding Gasol and Batum/Webster splitting time taking turns guarding Kobe.

But just imagine what would happen if the Blazers beat the Lakers and they are at home watching us advance to the second round.......oh my.

The only thing they would have left to bitch about the Blazers would be that they have a few more championships. Big deal.

It remains $tern's league so no. If it was a straight up competition, hellz yeah

I want them. I want some fucking revenge for 2000-02. I wouldn't say this if I didn't believe we could matchup with them. The only thing that is special about the Lakers is Lamar Odom. Without him, they are a very common team, nothing remarkable. So provided we can prevent him from doing any major damage, we will win the series going away. LMA can matchup with Gasol, Roy loves playing against Kobe, and Miller should dominate Fisher & Farmarr.

In the second or third round? No problem, but getting bounced by LA in round one (yet again) isn't my idea of a good time.

not if I wanna see the 2nd round this year I dont.

I would prefer Dallas, but I would take LA over Denver or Utah.

Yes, because I want to feel the energy in the RG when Portland plays the Lakers in the first round. Sure the fans would get up for Dallas, Phoenix, Denver or Utah. But they would really get their hate on with the Lakers.

I would, but as Andre Miller notes, the league isn't about to let the Lakers lose in the first round.

If you truly believe the league is fixed, then that means the Blazers will never win a championship. And if that is so, why do you watch the games, why do you care about the games, and why do you post on this board?

#1 seeds have lost in the past. The Lakers have lost in the first round in the past. LeBron sat out the Finals last season. The Spurs have won 4 titles.

But I could care less what you think. I'm just worried about what our starting point guard thinks.

I don't think the league is completely fixed. I think there is bias. There have been retired officials who have said similar things. STOMP has provided an example a few times, but I forget which official it was.

But I could care less what you think.

If you really could(n't) care less what I think, then why do you respond to me over and over? I think you care. You care a lot. And I'm touched that you care.

I'm just worried about what our starting point guard thinks.

He thinks the officials will be biased toward the Lakers, making them not the best first-round opponent.

It is one thing to say "the refs are biased towards the Lakers so it will be tough." It's another thing to say "if we face the Lakers, the Lakers will advance." The latter is a losing attitude. He was flat out admitting defeat against the team that we will most likely face in the first round. That's the stupidest thing I've heard a player say since McGrady last year predicted the Lakers would win the championship even though HIS TEAM WAS PLAYING THE LAKERS!

Well, the Lakers are much better. If they also get referee bias, it's an unlikely win.

Also, Miller will be secretly rooting for LA, and when your starting point guard is actively trying to help the other team win, you're not going to advance. Miller, smart as he is, surely factored that in.

The way this city and the Rose Garden gets all hyped and pumped when we play the Lakers, I think it would be great!
