It seems unlikely, but just look at 2007 and last year as prime examples of the chaos that tends to occur in November. The problem is, we're 6th in the BCS, so 4 teams would have to lose for us to get back into the title picture. There's just not enough time left to do that.

Not really.

First, let's assume the season ends with no undefeated teams and Stanford loses to USC allowing the Ducks to play in and win the PAC-12 titlew game to boost strength of schedule.

The NCAA and BCS have guaranteed any 1 loss SEC team to be in the natty. So that leaves 1 spot open. For the Ducks to get there:

* FSU has to lose and they have no real challenges ahead.
* OSU has to lose and they as well have no real challenges.
* If there are 2 1-loss SEC teams then it's at least 50% the natty is another all SEC affair. So there can only be 1 SEC team with 1 loss.
* Baylor has to lose probably 2 games due to their strength of schedule.
* Stanford must lose to USC and be kept out of the PAC-12 title game.

Also, if Alabama goes undefeated and no other BCS school goes undefeated and there is an SEC team with only 1 loss, they are pretty much guaranteed the natty due to the SEC bias that prevails.

I'd say our chances are 3% at best.

Remember, the SEC is guaranteed to have a BCS representative unless their best team has 1 loss and there are 2 other BCS teams with none. Heck, I could even see an SEC team jump an undefeated OSU due to their crappy schedule. So for UO to get to the natty, OSU, FSU & Balyor all have to lose and USC must beat Stanford. That's a tall order. Also, if both Alabama and Auburn end up with 1 loss and OSU, FSU and Baylor lose as well, look for a potential Auburn/Alabama natty.

Agreed. Thanks to FSU's weak schedule, they're currently a virtual lock for the title game. Only way UO gets in is USC beats Stanford, Texas beats Baylor, and both FSU and OSU lose conference title games. Chances of all of those happening is virtually nil.

FSU passes the eye test to me. And 'bama is beatable. An FSU/'bama natty is likely and I give FSU a definate fighting chance.

I sure wouldn't want to play Bama, giving Saban a month to plan for us, knowing our last 4 "BIG WINS" came against Syracuse, Idaho, a toothless Gator bunch and Duke!

Bama would have a tougher game against their second string on an in campus scrimmage then what FSU will come in with! That said, when all is said and done, the Pac-12 will be the strongest conference when the bowl season ends this year.
