Does Krstic Feel He “Let Down” the Nets?

Buried in an ESPN report on how NBA players fared in the Eurobasket Qualifying Round is this comment: “Nenad Krstic suffered through a 2007-08 season to forget with injuries and a loss in confidence and form, forcing him to admit in his own blog that he had let down his employers, the New Jersey Nets.” The article didn’t provide a link to the blog. Krstic led Serbia with 13.7 ppg and 5.7 rpg.

You can't really blame him for his injuries. I think the Nets tried to rush him back, and that eventually made the rehabilitation process much, much longer than what it should have been.

Krstic was in a weird situation. He had to repay a loan on his buyout. He really didn't have the option to stay in with the Nets unless he got a decent deal.

So I can't exactly say he left only for the money, but I'm hopeful he returns too.

He shouldn't but that's his personality. He gave us great hope. It was great watching him come out against Shaq. Hopefully he regains his ability over the next couple seasons, if so he's certain to draw nice salary in the league. Then again the Nets can use that guilt from the first tour with the Nets as a way to leverage a decent deal for both sides.

I agree with Kidd Karma. That's just his personality. It may not be under his control, I'm sure he feels at least partly responsible for not being able to play. He's just a nice guy.

If it is as translated, it means he feels he still owes the Nets something.

At the same time, the Nets have promised to keep qualifying him to retain his rights, even if it's two years, and not just one.

I now have a lot more hope he will return to the Nets...although the question is, if Lopez and Yi (and possibly ANderson) develop, how much would the Nets be willing to pay in 2010...or even 2009. Still, I like the idea that the Nets have kept his rights.
