It still creeps into my head from time to time and eats away at me. Anyone else? I always thought Torre should've been grateful for the three seasons he got after that fiasco.
 
...I'll be honest, I had a bad feeling after the game 4 loss...and when they also lost game 5 I remember telling my wife "We're gonna lose this series."

Game four woke the Red Sox up and five knocked the Yankees on their heels for sure. I was at the Schilling bloody sock game on one of the coldest and dampest October nights I can remember. Game seven I didn't even want to watch because I knew they were done.
 
Personally, I had a bad feeling after game 3... I recall feeling like they awoke the beast with the ass whooping handed out...
 
...^^^I almost felt sorry for the Sox during that game...almost.
 
I still get pissed over the 04 PS.........yes, I do...........

Game 4's 12 innings, took the air out of my lungs, Game 5's 14 inning affair, tho' a helluva game, I never felt the Yanx stood a chance from there on out, not after the looks on their faces at the end of Gm 4.

The Halos 86 ALCS loss, was quit similar to me, in the fact, I knew once the show went back to Beantown, in 86, for the last 2 games, would be a joke to even watch........
 
That '04 defeat was a huge embarrassment for the franchise Yankees fielded a hell of a team that year but I still think Pettitte was a missing ingredient. I still wonder how Torre escaped being fired.
 
The Red Sox never feared Rivera coming into a game.
 
There are three four the Yankees lost that really got me pissed, first being the '60 against Pittsburgh, The '81 Series against Los Angeles, '01 Series against Arizona, but that '04 took first. I did not have a computer for a few years and was tracking things the old school USA Today way. My first shock in '04 was finding out Pettitte was gone, second being the Yankees got A-rod. I didn't have a TV then either so I'd go to the Wing House and watch, not good I get really carried away. There was a guy I worked with who was a huge Red Sox Fan and I had to go to work and face that guy with my tail between my legs, not pleasant.
 
2004 ALCS "pain" is gone.
Yep- blowing a 3-0 lead was a depressing spectacle for the Yankees and their fans but honestly, the thing which still kinda annoys me a bit is the fact the Yanks had a golden opportunity to advance to the WS and -imo- despite the Cards great reg season W-L record, I feel the Yanks would've also handled them.

Maybe if I had a Chrystal Ball telling me the Yanks would've lost the WS it would feel better.

Blowing a 3-0 lead,...or missing a great chance to go to the WS?
Both are related, but the latter is the bottom line.

By the way- the 2001 WS loss to Arizona stings me more than the 2004 ALCS.

- wasted a great dramatic go ahead 8th inn HR by Soriano off big mouth Schilling in game 7.....DAMMIT!

Yeah I remember the day after that loss to Arizona. Not a good day. For as good as he was Mariano had some really big blown saves.

Your welcome.... Saturday will be on Fox at 1:00 and 30 minutes after the game ends Yes will pick up the 2nd game so I am guessing around 4:30-5:00pm start time. Let us pray....

The 81 Series was perhaps one of the most emotional W.Series I have ever seen. I rode My Harley here from L.A. to Goodland KS. My GrandPa, who raised me solid as a Yanx Fan. (keep in mind this was The Man, who actually saw the Larrupin Lous play the Gallupin Galoots, and He also lived (for a few years), in the town just West of Welch OK, home of the Commerce Comet.

My GrandPa was dying of Pancreatic, and Intestinal Cancer, His bladder had already been removed, his 3rd surgery, left him to die at home, in his wooden rocking chair, he always sat in.

We watched the entire Series, the moment Dave La Roche came out and threw his Eephus Pitch, I thought its all over, and it was when Tommy John was pulled off the mound. I still say TJ had the game where he wanted it, and panic set in with Bob Lemon........

81 was also the Year, the Yanx selected John Elway in the Draft.....that'd of been interesting maybe......
 
and...........he passed away 1 week later...........a true blooded Canuck of a Yankee Fan, IF I ever saw one......

If only he'd of kept his tobacco cards from the 20s on.......

'04 & '01 are 1-2 on my list respectively.... I was WAY too young for the '81 series (not yet, but almost 3) & deductively not around nor thought of for the '60 series
 
In terms of being depressed after the series, I'd rate
them as follows:
1. '01 really put me over the edge
2.'04 because it was the Bobosox
3. '60 just watching Berra moving to the wall in hopes
of catching Mazeroski's HR. Another 2 feet and it's an out.
4.'81 losing in 6 games after winning the first two at home.
BTW......Yankees lost all 3 games in LA each by one run.
The infamous George Frazier lost 3 games, all in relief....gms 3, 4 & 6.

to add insult to injury, the '13 team that won it all, 2 of the 7 position players on that WS roster at the present time are yankees, and if you look at that entire roster they won it with less then the yankees have now!
 
^^^lol...uhh, sorry, but no. The 2013 Sox had a better offense, defense, and pitching, as compared to this year's Yanx.
 
Another crusher of sorts was the '80 Team. Yeah they won the division but dropped from an 8.5 game lead after being swept by Baltimore in the stadium then getting their asses kicked 3/5 in Baltimore. Getting swept by Kansas City was not cool at all, remember big George firing Ferraro for that base running miscue.
 
...I remember being really disappointed in 1980...they had a great team...won 103 games. Hell, we even had Gaylord Perry and Jim Kaat that year, lol.
 
I made two of the five games in Baltimore at memorial, the game Perry Started I saw on TV. The Royals hit the Yankees over the head with a sock full of shit. Even Brett realized in order to beat the Yankees they'd have to sweep.

...again, look at the stats. The Sox were a much better team in every facet of the game.

...Salty had a career year, Bogaerts played a whopping 18 games, Berry played a whopping 13 games, Carp was a utility man, Nava is/was a solid player.
