Read an article detailing archeological research on animal domestication and how it changed not only the animals but us. Article centered on dogs, first to be domesticated, cats, who domesticated themselves, a little, horses and how they dramatically altered travel, trade, communication, and warfare, and goats, who predated cattle, sheep, and pigs as livestock.

The article hypothesized that domestication of dogs gave Homo sapiens survival advantage over Homo neanderthalis, who did not domesticate, as sapiens could better hunt and protect settlements with aid of dogs.

Nonsense. They don't need us to feed them any more than we need to eat in restaurants. They can feed themselves. But why waste effort when humans beg to serve them?

Oh, I think current politicians are very good at licking their own rear-end, and while cats excel at this task too, I am not sure we really get an upgrade there.
