Domantas and Giannis might not be impossible for us

I think we can keep both Deni and Camara in a trade for Giannis. Scoot and Shae would go though.

would you trade Giannis for Scoot and Shae?

Would you trade Scoot and Shae for Sabonis?

I think the Bucks would ask for Camara or Clingan, Scoot and picks.

Giannis ain't on my team demanding a trade. He hasn't said what his preferred destination is.

If he was and said he wanted to be traded to a specific team (Blazers) I would do my best to honor the wish of a guy who brought us a championship.

I would want young players with potential and 1st round draft picks. Blazers have just that.

How about we also raise Walton from the dead and have OHS give Zombie Bill bionic knees and feets to play beside Giannis? I'm on board with that. I haven't figured out that trade machine thing yet but I think trading Khris Murray for Flagg would be smart. If Cronin doesn't do this he's an idiot

We might have to throw in a pick swap and some salary flexibility?

I personally would want to keep Clingan at C. We need a screen setting defensive big. Sabonis is a liability on that end.

This post is pretty wild. There is no scenario where we get Giannis while keeping Scoot and Shae. They would BOTH go and I would be all for it. This, of course, hinges on Dame returning to form.
If we didn’t win immediately, I think you’d regret that trade. In 5 years, Scoot and Sharpe are much better than Giannis. Like trading SGA for Paul George.

Somebody explain this please.

Kinda meant "explain it to him". Somebody who might not be blocked.

Is he wrong? In 5 years, Giannis will be 36 with a lot of mileage. Scoot and Shae will just be entering their prime at 26-27.
The question is, can we win in 2-3 years with Giannis?

Well if you are asking me then my response is pretty clear. If the Blazers could in any way get a talent the level of Giannis for a decent backup PG and a SG that can dunk well but doesn't really have the fire or talent to be the number one threat on the court you better take that deal any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Even more when you think about what the Blazers will have to pay those two players as a #6 and #3 pick as they start to take up the cap space. Sharpe is looking like Elliot Williams or Martell Webster and Scooter is looking better than Quintel Woods or Sebastian Telfair but not by much.
Guess we will see what this year brings.

Take this on over to the "Sink or Swim" thread for Sharpe. How about the multiple Scoot threads talking about how he needs to improve shooting but then showing he is now capable of dribbling through his legs.

Just for the sake of we have nothing better to do in the offseason.....

Here is Elliot Williams career

Sharpe on his worst day is 10x better than Elliot Williams.

Here is Webster.

Neither Williams nor Webster came even close to averaging what Sharpe did last year.

Scoot is already so much better than either of those players. KJ you gotta work on those comparisons my guy. They're not even remotely close. Maybe Sharpe and Scoot haven't lived up to their hype yet, but they both are far better players than Elliot Williams or Qyntel Woods.

I am not saying I would not make the trade; I was simply agreeing that if they did not win it immediately, we would probably regret it.
Especially since Giannis has an opt-out after two seasons, and we won't have Dame for one of those 2 years.

Situation was completely different and neither one of them were ever on a team tanking for a draft pick except maybe Williams first year which correlates pretty well with Sharpes first year.
Let me know when you honestly believe Sharpe will be the leader of this team. Same applies for Scoot.
Now back to the point. If you get a chance to put a Player the caliber of Giannis on the Blazers you better take that opportunity. Turning Sharpe into a perennial All-Star player would be an obvious move.
Please take that "Sharpe and Scoot are better than Giannis" homer garbage elsewhere. It's absolute troll behavior and I really never thought you were going to troll about something like that.

Again your comps don't work at all. They have been on a team that is tanking. Sorry.

The immediate win thing is absolutely a valid point. I just don't see any way you don't go all in on a player of that caliber.

Oh shit.... did I include Giannis' stats in my comparisons? My bad...... oh wait. I did not.

Actually.... I don't think the word "Giannis" appears anywhere in my posts above. Are you having a senior moment?

I'm pretty sure you said the names:
Sebastian Telfair
Qyntel Woods
Martell Webster
Elliot Williams

I don't recall any mention of Giannis.

Scoot + Sharpe + the Bucks picks + Grant (+ more draft capital) = Giannis

If and only if Giannis demands a trade — specifically to Portland — would the above trade make any sense for Milwaukee.

Clingan, Giannis, Deni, Toumani, Jrue
Yang, TimeLord, Reath, Murray, Rupert, Matisse, Dame (in a year)

In a tough WC, the Blazers giving up more (Toumani or Clingan) defeats the point of it — having enough to actually contend.

With Clingan and Yang, the ship has sailed on Domantas Sabonis. Too bad, but probably for the best.

And since Giannis is a top 5 player, getting enough in return by Milwaukee is unlikely at best. A team “winning” by trading a “Giannis” is rare. It’s more about losing the least badly.

I actually did mention that there was a year with Williams.
Doesn't matter. The point is still the point I was making. If you got a chance to trade them for Giannis i would do it any day.
Scooter and Sharpe would need to make quite a jump to move me from this position.

I never said you shouldn't. In fact I'm pretty sure I proposed a trade that included both of those players. I was responding to your comparisons of their careers thus far.

Good job Nate. You have caught up nicely.
