Was thinking that if they re-did that 2024 draft, he would probably go #2? Where are the guys who said how stacked that draft was by the way. Spending all there time cracking on @THE HCP for calling it weak. Maybe the wort draft EVER!
That's not what happened. You were trying to tell us the draft didn't matter because nobody was going to make a difference.

Glad you have a mouthful of crow among other things.

This might be among the truest statements ever said on this or any other message board.

Its 1000x worse on Twitter. That place is so full of idiots who think themselves to be basketball gurus when they're truly idiots who have no patience, no common sense and no perspective of reality.

Thankfully this place isn't overrun with those people like Twitter is.

Hey speak for yourself!

I understand Sarr has been putting up numbers, but what does that mean on the Wiz? I’d take DC #2.
Last time I checked, and it’s been a few games, DC was #1 in win shares, win shares per 48, and VORP for the draft class. #2 might be underselling him.

he's number 1 in value over replacement and basically 2nd in BPM behind Cam Spenser, but he's nearly doubled Spenser in minutes. Now, those advanced metrics usually skew in favor big men, but when they all show the same thing, it usually means they have identified quality

It's kinda clear that Dunn was trying his best to get Clingan a foul or at best (for them) tossed from the game. Rick Fox used to do that all the time (god I hate(d) that mother fucker).
When the refs reviewed it and said “nope nothing unsportsmanlike here” i laughed so hard like get fucked Dunn.

What are the chances Cling Kong becomes an All Star in a few years? I'm liking his evolution into the street thug/tough that he should be and less of his goofy, teen punkishness.

While Donovan plays in city known for rain, the sun will always shine where you stand.

How many fans of other Donovan can place that citation?

it's possible if his trajectory continues

Gobert is old; Jokic is 30; Sabonis is injured a lot and plays for a terrible team; Zubac is in the east

Wemby, Sengun, and Holmgren will always be there; maybe not so much Holmgren but he's pretty good. Now, a lot of the bigs right now qualify as international: Wemby-Jokic-Sengun-KAT-Zubac....maybe that will help Clingan's cause....

....what may hurt his cause is the big drop in his blocked shot rates from last season to this one. I'm not sure why that is. I suspect Tiago's defense is using Clingan differently than Chaucey's was. Maybe less drop coverage. Maybe Clingan decided to stay out of foul trouble and isn't chasing blocks so often. In the scheme of things, blocked shots don't necessarily signify solid rim protection and paint defense. But they are more noticeable for popularity contests

DC is also a pretty crafty passer which I think will be used more as he gets more comfortable.
Pryz was a bit of a throwback enforcer, too. DC has what it takes to be one, also.
Pryz was the reason I felt like we could draft KD instead of Oden. Not that Pryz was better, but I thought a frontcourt of KD, LMA and Pryz, along with BRoy and ANY pg, was a better lineup than what it was with Oden.
Either way, injuries would have derailed the team. But, a few years of KD would have been interesting.

DC is obviously his own player but I remember when we first got Przybilla we tried to see if he could gain an offensive game to go with his defense. It didn’t work out obviously but DC feels like the “yeah but what if he had though?” version of Joel.

I believe that this is absolutely the case. Which is very impressive for such a young player. Blocks are exciting and flashy. Contesting, disrupting, and not fouling is still very effective though.
Great to look at least year to this year comparisons, yes his block rate went from 7.5% to 4.8%, but per 100 possessions, his fouls dropped from 6.9 last year to 3.9 this year. Per 36 dropping from 5.1 to 3. Averaging almost 8 more minutes a night, while dropping a half a foul per game.

I’ll be first to admit I’ve cracked on him at times just because I think there are games where he’s useless in drop coverage and not able to extend out to cover beyond top of key. Not so much as a knock he is who he is and the way he improved this year I’m guessing he has it in him to improve that aspect of his game. Kid is a warrior and is all about winning, was a great pick by Blazers.

Well you said Yang was going to….so not really sure what to think.

Clingan should be a lock for most improved player but he won't get the nod I'm pretty sure. I think of him now as good Greg Oden karma! Yes, finally Portland does get nice things! What amazes me most is his conditioning and ability to play 30 plus minutes without foul trouble.
