Don’t Expect RJ High Scoring to Continue But He’s “Legit All-Star”
January 3, 2008, 7:40 am Stan McNeal of The Sporting News takes a look at one of the NBA’s biggest surprises: Richard Jefferson’s scoring prowess. Jefferson has spent much of this season in the league’s top five in scoring, rarefied air for a player who averaged only 16 ppg last season and one teamed up with one of the game’s top offensive stars. He may not continue at this pace, Neal writes, but his All-Star credentials are “legit”.

well at least he's getting some acknowledgment....

What exactly are you disagreeing with?

If he keeps up 25 a night, do you think he could win MIP?

RJ is not an all-star and won't be as a one-dimensional player like melo

Here is who he is up against for the all-star game
LeBron, KG, Pierce, Caron Butler, Chris Bosh, Jermaine O'Neal, and more.

This must have happened yesterday. Oh wait, it didn't. RJ isn't a one dimensional player.

Before he wasn't a one-dimensional player this year he is. All he is doing is filling up the Scoring Category on the Stat Sheet.

Stop posting. Now.

You just lost whatever little credibility you had with this post.

Mmmmmm...

He is down two assists and 1.5 rebounds from his last healthy season two years ago.

He is definitely more of a scorer than he was then, but he's FAR from being a one dimensional player.

His outside shooting has also taken a nose dive. It's amazing he can still drive around guys. They should just give him that shot.

Keep watching highlight reels and looking at stats, your knowledge will always surpass those of us who watch basketball.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vcTmac24 @ Jan 3 2008, 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Hmm let's check out his stats
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3523

PPG: 24.5
RPG: 4.5
APG: 2.6

as you can see he's not doing anything else except scoring which is one-dimensional. 4.5 RPG for a small forward!!! are you kidding me? He's more one-dimensional than Melo this season.</div>

That is one of the worst arguments I've ever seen and as a veteran of the Nets forum, that is saying a lot.

When was the last time you watched a Nets game, rather than the highlights on the 11 o'clock sportscenter? Stats never tell the whole story.

Then what is R.J except scoring the stat sheet?

Defender? I don't think so He's average on a normal day. I'm sure you all love Jefferson but he's one-dimensional THIS SEASON.

Oh noes, the following players are one dimensional

Ray Allen - 18.9 PPG, 4.0 RPG & 3.1 APG
Grant Hill - 16.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG & 3.7 APG
Kevin Martin - 24.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG & 2.1 APG
Tayshaun Prince - 13.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG & 3.0 APG

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (cpawfan @ Jan 3 2008, 12:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Oh noes, the following players are one dimensional

Ray allen has probably became one-dimensional in recent years. Grant Hill has become a role player. Kevin Martin probably is one-dimensional, Prince plays perimeter defense and is a defensive specialist.

????????????

Carmelo Anthony is not one-dimensional. This, coming from a person who watched him a whole season in college. He was most definitely not one-dimensional.

Richard Jefferson is not one-dimensional, either. This, coming from multiple fans who have been watching nearly every Nets game this season.

Where are you from, vcTmac24? Have you been watching RJ all this season..?

i've watched him in several games about 15 How is he not one-dimensional in proof of stats and in game he seems pretty one-dimensional. Melo has been one-dimensional in the past years and even barkley called Melo one-dimensional

but i'd like to hear your debate instead of your love for RJ.

Charles Barkley?

Ooooooooooooh boy...

I don't even think you understand what a one-dimensional player is.

Jason Kapono is a one-dimensional player.

Erick Dampier is a one-dimensional player.

Channing Frye is a one-dimensional player.

These are potential discussions.

Trying to argue that Richard Jefferson is a one-dimensional player is a worthless topic that is nothing but intentionally annoying.

a person who is only good at one thing, one talent one reason why he's playing. i think i've said enough.

That is another type of one-dimensional. I'm saying RJ is one-dimensional because all he can do is fill up 1 Category on the stat sheet. while all of you guys are loving RJ i'm just trying to make a simple debate but all of you guys are mad about something i disagree with.

There is only one type of "one-dimensional". You can't change the definition because you feel like it.

RJ is "multi-dimensional". There is no argument there.

Ignoring for a moment how idiotically this debate is structured.

So 6.7 RPG isn't enough to fill up a second column on the stat sheet

that's your opinion. RJ is one-dimensional take it or leave it.

6.7 RPG? what year? last year? I'm talking about this year.
Jefferson has only 4.5 RPG

EDIT: here's the link to show it enjoy
