Down The Stretch They Come..........

Looking at the schedule, Denver's next 3 games are brutal. @ OKC tonight, back-to-back tomorrow vs LAL in Denver and Sat vs Spurs. They could easily lose all three and be sitting in 7th or 8th place. Yikes, that could bring a whole new dimension to the 6th, 7th and 8th spots. Especially since they have the tie breaker with us.

I guess in the end we just worry about us but it just seems crazy that most people have the Jazz, Mavs, Nuggets and Suns on this whole other level that people seem to think the bottom teams cant get to. ANY losing streak by ANY team in the west will have huge implications.

OKC got screwed by the refs. Obvious foul against Durant at the end. Works for us though.

That makes up for the other 8-10 fouls that he gets throughout the game that aren't fouls. Towards the end of regulation, he was awarded foul shots on some phantom bull shit call.

I disagree. No ref is going to make that call. OKC may bitch, but maybe if they had played defense during the game during any stretch of the game, it wouldn't have came down to that. 140 points on the board? Are you kidding me? Try defending somebody.

Denver/OKC tied in Q2 --39 all.

What's with all these top teams allowing OKC to give them a tough time. Send those chumps to the RG and we will show the western conference how to play these kids. :D

48-48 with 2 minutes left in the 1st half!

Houston is taking it to the Jazz right now! I am all for rooting for the suns and the mavs and against the jazz and nuggets....in hopes that we end up playing phoenix or dallas.

edit: I guess I am rooting for the nuggets tonight though, against OKC.

i may have to look into scalped OKC tickets....that game is going to be huge!

Clearly that double-OT thriller took everything Utah had. Works for me! Come on Nuggets!

Suns have this one in the bag - perfect night for Portland!

Well, it's nice to be sixth ... if even for only 1 night.

Remaining schedules

Portland:
vs. Dallas
at LA Lakers
vs. Thunder (B2B)
vs. Golden State

OKC:
vs. Phoenix
at Golden State
at Portland (B2B)
vs. Memphis

Phoenix
at OKC
vs. Houston
vs. Denver
at Utah (B2B)

San Antonio:
vs. Memphis
at Denver (B2B)
vs. Minnesota
at Dallas

Some conservative predictions:

Portland : 2-2 --> 50-32
OKC: 3-1 --> 51-31
Phoenix: 1-3 --> 52-30
San Antonio: 2-2 --> 50-32

That would leave us at 7, ahead of SA.

We have to beat one of Dallas or the Lakers (along with obviously beating OKC to own the tie breaker and cancel out our 1 loss if we do lose 1 and they win until we meet each other). The Spurs may be able to win out with how they have been playing barring tonight (I mean beating the Magic, Lakers and Cavs)? However they have just as much chance to lose to the Nuggets and Mavericks and possibly the Grizzlies.

probably should be listing the Jazz (instead of Phoenix) since they're in 5th... I'll do it :)

Utah
@ New Orleans
@ Golden State
vs. Phoenix

Thanks.

I just figured Utah would win out as they have a pretty easy schedule, while Phoenix could possibly drop.

One scenario that no one has brought up is us winning the division. If Denver and Utah lose all their games and we win all ours, we can finish 3rd or 4th, but homecourt advantage would depend on individual records in the matchup.

Just seems unlikely. Utah has a pretty easy schedule remaining against Golden State, New Orleans, and a tougher opponent in Phoenix. Denver plays the Spurs and Lakers, and the Suns. Even if they lost those three and we won out, they would still have to beat Memphis since they own the tie breaker over us, and I don't see them losing to Memphis. Would be awesome, but not very likely.
