Someone on RealGM brought this up and I thought it was a good deal. A lot like what the Celtics did this year to the roster getting Ray Allen.

New York trades:
Stephon Marbury
2008 first round pick

New Jersey trades:
Vince Carter
Stromile Swift
2008 first round pick

Would you do it?

why?

the nets may be in the lottery and we dont know what pick they will get yet, it could be higher then NYs

Unprotected top 5 pick? Hell yes. We draft Gordon, Rose, or Batum to replace VC...why not?

Maybe we could pry one of their good young players from 'em, too.

Yes Marbury is expiring and if getting the likes of:

Eric Gordon
DeAndre Jordan
Derrick Rose
Nicolas Batum

...along with 20 million expiring is a bad deal, then you have to start watching basketball outside of UConn.

I am not so sure that i want to give up VC.

I mean if we get rid of him, there will be no more double teams on him and no one will get open, it may take a even worse hit on the offensive.

There is no way Isiah gives up that pick.

As of now, It's pretty much top 5 guaranteed.

Um, Hum this is Isiah we are talking about here. I mean he did take Balkman over Marcus and Boone.

I would trade Marcus for Balkman in a second.

Same here. As far as I know, he has no skills, and all he does is dunk. Weak.

If there was ever a player to get excited over his physical measurements, its Deandre. He's the type of guy you draft and stash away for a couple of years.

I totally agree.

I don't get the fascination with Jordan either, I predict Seattle drafts him, puts him in a house with Swift, Petro, and Sene and tapes it for 3 months, and BAM reality TV show.

That would be classic. A white dude, a French guy, an African guy, and a black kid all chillen together. Classic.

Oh, and ly_ying, you're a jerk

damn if we get NY's pick why not trade it with our pick and try to move up to get beasley... he has the complete package...!

beasley looks like the clear number 1 pick in this draft. He looks significantly better than any prospect available this year. Why would the team with the number one pick give up the kid that's having a better season than Kevin Durant? It just wouldn't make any sense. It'd be like Portland or Seattle trading down from last year, we all knew that would never happen. Beasley looks like a franchise player.

just sayin a team that may have more needs.... might be willin to move down to a 5th pick (NY KNICKS) and our pick which is lotter and can be anywhere from 6-14 unless we are 1-3
... so that is 2 lottery picks for the first....
and we still would have the mavs pick

Quite right. He talked about packaging it with our pick. The Dallas pick is too low to help trade up for a top 5'er, so I assumed we package the NY pick with our own pick. That then begs the question of how we acquired NY's pick without giving up our own.

Well i assume we give up our lottery pick ( if we dont make the playoffs) to ny, and that leaves us with a top 5 pick via NY and our other first round pick from Dallas 17-22 . I think right?

DO IT THRONKIKPEDIA!
We get a 20mil expiring contract and a damn good pick. We can just stash Marbury to the inactive list. Also, all the VC and Swift fanatics will be gone!

I kid, I kid!
