Its crazy how many of us are viewing the 11th like its an end of the 1st round throw in. Normally the Blazers don't pick that high and we would be extremely excited to only have that choice in this super deep draft. Because we happen to have the #6 and potential cap room this year its easy to overlook the value of the 11.

Good perspective.

And Marshall's shot is gorgeous?

I think Marshall has one elite NBA skill and that is his ability to run a team ... combo of passing, vision and instincts. Wroten has some intriguing potential but the character concerns worry me some.

FYI, that doesn't mean I love Marshall or Ross. I just like them better than Rivers and Wroten as prospects.

Robinson tweeted about being in Charlotte in the AM, so unless we go there, sounds like he is not the secret workout.

Where is this secret workout thing coming from?

I dunno, I think someone said they heard it on 1080, so might not even be true.

Bobo said he heard something about it on 1080 yesterday.

Re: Draft Workouts
Any word on who is working out tomorrow? I heard on The Fan that the Trail Blazers are having a "secret" workout tomorrow with one of the projected top picks.

Any word? My boy won't return my text when I asked him who was there!

True dat! But BoBo is a good dude.

(That's kinda like when you hear someone say "Not the hottest, but she's got a great personality.")

He's a great dude.

I often let him go first when we both accidentally show up at the same time over at The HCP's house when he is out of town

Sloppy seconds? Or is it third or fourths by that time?

You guys actually wait for HCP to be out of town? Wow, you guys are more respectful than me. HCP is often still at home while I'm over there with Mrs.

is that enough in this NBA? I don't think so when you are a possible sieve on D and no offensive threat at all yourself - simply too many negatives IMO to overcome the one very good, even elite skill you may possess

When i show up HCP immediately goes into the kitchen to make me a sandwich while i head for the Mrs. in the bedroom.

Yeah. You can be a middling team and have lots of players like that. But, contending teams seem to have most of their players with only one or zero deficiencies. I'm sure Marshall makes his team better, but the fact that he cannot defend and has a poor looking outside shot is enough to turn me off. I could live with one, but not both.

I dunno, I think his ceiling and closest comp in the current NBA is probably Ricky Rubio ... but I'm not "cheerleading" for the Blazers to pick him, I was simply stating that out of the group that he worked out with, I liked he and Ross the best out of the bunch. That's all.

What you just described is how a lot of people describe Andre Miller.

like Miller, and Kidd now as well, I think Marshall, especially on a team with a guy like Batum, would be ok because you can hide him on a wing player and he's big enough to not just get posted immediately.

And how many titles does he have?

I do like Andre, but that is kind of my point. He is a little more special because of his incredible ability to score in strange ways, but he still always ends up on middling teams, even though he clearly makes people better. Steve Nash? Only has one glaring hole (no D), but it is a big one. Teams are likely better off with players that are more well rounded than ones that do one thing really well. In reality it is probably the poor D, more than the outside shot that scares me. Rondo only has one weakness (outside shot), but has done very well, where Nash's lack of D has hurt his teams.

Right now Portland is built around two-way players (Aldridge, Matthews, Batum). I think this is a good model. I hope they keep it up.

I wasn't saying anything for or against Andre Miller. Just pointing it out. I'd consider adding a young Andre Miller to my team. One, he's better than what we've had in years. Two, he's still young and can improve upon his weaknesses. Three, Andre Miller is still better than most PG's, IMO. If you can get something better, you go and get it. But if not, you take the young Miller, hope he improves, and wait for an opportunity to improve at the position (if the young Miller doesn't improve). Marshall will make it in this league if for no other reason than he can run a team, and he has shown he can step up offensively when needed (look at his late-season run, when his team needed him the most). Not a huge Marshall fan, but at the right pick, I'd consider taking him.

Trying to find out who this secret workout is. Rice usually returns my texts right away........ this morning, NOTHING!

Too busy working to reply to the great posts about The Mrs.
