I wouldn't be devastated. A year ago he was possibly a top 3 pick before he decided to stay. His criticisms pre-draft are the same one's that pundits had about Kevin Love.

You look at his advanced stats and they are really impressive:

PER: 30.3 | 30.2
TS%: 59% | 59%
WS: 8.2 | 9.3

And then you look at his atrocious combine numbers and very average height/length, I think he's going to struggle bigtime against NBA bigs with length.

8'9.5" standing reach with a 11'4.5" max reach....

Can't imagine POR picking Lillard over Barnes, Barnes is just a WAY better talent....

Sorry the second link above was to the wrong video. Here is a second video of players shooting. This one has Terrence Jones on it.

Man I want Terrance Jones waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy more then Sullinger!

It'll be interesting if Jones can find a position -- SF or PF

He has good PF size, if he can ever put it all together:

6'9.5" | 252 lbs. | 7'2" wingspan | 8'11" reach

I got the feeling that Sullinger didn't have the workout he wanted. This was his first one and he talked about feeling the jet-lag about halfway through. He also talked about how hard the coach were pushing them. Seems that may have not gone his way. He didn't say it just the impression I got.

You should never blame your performance on how hard the coaches were pushing you. Just sayin'.

What position would you play him at? IMO he'll never be a starting SF or PF because he's somewhere in between. Thaddeus Young comes to mind.

I thought Young was 6'10" and skinny as hell. Jones is 6'8" and a beast! He's like 250 I thought. 2 totally different players FAMS! I think he could play the SF position. I know he can shoot and play great post D. He could get away playing 15 min of backup PF as well.

Young is skinnier but he's actually shorter than Jones. I think he will be better than young, but the same type of player in regards to not having a true position. I think he would have a tough time defending good SFs and good PFs. Too slow for starting SFs and not big enough for starting PFs. I just really cannot see him as a starter on a playoff caliber team.

He's bigger but his game is actually a lot like Thad's.

I think T. Jones would have the most success embracing the power forward position. Just checked again and he's 6'9.5" (in shoes) and 252 with a 7'2.25" wingspan and 8'11" standing reach. If he tries to be a SF he will get stuck as a tweener.

Get the fuck outta here FAMS! You think Thaddeus Young and Terrance Jones are smilier players!

Actually I do. Young has more size, but I think Jones probably has a better handle.

Jones is 6'9 1/2" 255 pounds........ That's a PF. Who can shoot and handle the ball.

To put that in perspective, LeBron is 6'8" 250!

Zags...... you need to call it a night. You're losing street cred by the minute.

Yeah, but he doesn't have a post game. Unless he develops that he's going to be stuck between the 3 and the 4.

You sure about that? I swear he did just fine in the low block when I watched him play this season.

You think we're crazy for comparing Jones to Young but you compare him to LeBron James? You've lost your marbles!

At his size and athletic ability, if he had a post game he'd be a top-5 pick.

He's likely mid-first. Though, it sounds like the Warriors could reach and take him at #7..

The sophomore is able to blow by slower defenders at the college level and simply beat them to the rim, but his lack of great ball-handling ability for a wing by NBA standards could limit his ability to attack the rim against true small forwards early in his professional career. Lacking much in the way of midrange scoring ability, Jones's lack of experience creating space on the perimeter would put him in a position where he'd need to reinvent his game to be efficient as a small forward, an obvious risk considering the questions about his mental toughness and the challenges such a transformation present.

By comparison, Jones's offensive arsenal seems much better suited for an up-tempo offensive team that will give him opportunities to face the basket from the post and mid-range and find a comfort zone immediately as a four rather than gambling on his ability to develop as a full time wing. Jones' quickness and strong first step are far more advantageous to him against fours than threes, and his ability to face-up from the post and get into the paint afford him better opportunities to utilize his athleticism instead of his still developing scoring touch.

The best part of having Ime Udoka on the Blazers was me whispering "Demo-Rat" every time he walked by.
