OT Drones Close Down London Airport

A london airport has been closed down for the night after a fleet of drones kept overtaking runways when planes attempted to depart. The armed forces has been called in. Authorities cannot find the operators of the drones. 115,000 people were scheduled to flight out with the Christmas holiday around the corner.

Police in Australia have these anti drone guns, but apparently legislation would have to be changed before they could be used in the UK.



I wonder if they could have used one of these?

I worked on an application for a entity that may or may not be a service branch. Where we used robots, lidar, and AI to locate, identify, track and destroy drones or small aircraft that were deemed unknown / dangerous. I wonder when that will become something more “public” airports.
