Drummer Tommy Ramone, provider of the propulsive backbeat for seminal Queens punk quartet the Ramones, died this weekend after a struggle with bile duct cancer.
The Hungarian-born Ramone, 65, became the last of the original Forest Hills foursome topass away nearly four decades after the band’s 1976 debut album of two-minute, three-chord gems.
“I am extremely saddened to hear the news of Tommy’s passing,” said his drumming successor, Marky Ramone. “His contribution and impact on music cannot and never will be forgotten.”
