Still... Obviously a malicious hitDude should not have been running. I'm sorry. Just not a good idea.
Jeff 'hand off' Lockie in the game....
Great...... he should NOT have been running at this stage of the game.
You want your QB to pick up the first down and slid to protect himself, can't account for cheap shots...
Gameplan for MSU? RUN
Why not? You want to pick up first downs and keep the ball. It's not like he dove head first. He slid...you're not supposed to get hit when you slide. It's like going out of bounds and having someone deliver a cheap shot out of bounds. Not when you're up 19 in the 4th quarter.

Should he just take a knee then? 3 knees and a punt? The Ducks defense hasn't exactly been "winning the day". You can't play scared, that's a good way to crap a game away. Sliding was the good move there. It's an unnecessary risk.

Defense has a lot of work to do. No doubt about that.
Attending the games might be the first tip I'd give them.
Not picking up a 1st down because you're afraid to get injured is playing scared. If that isn't playing scared, I don't know what is.Playing smart isn't playing scared.

I'm not an expert in any way, shape, or form, so what do you change? Different scheme? Is this just something we have to live with until the guys get more experience?
Okay, you be the judge:
Meaningless first down in a game that's already decided?
Having a healthy QB against Michigan State next week?
