I thought you meant being knocked somehow prevented him from having a concussion or that somehow being knocked out was less traumatic than a concussion.

That evaluation is meaningless, unless you know in advance that the player is going to get hurt. If the game was totally in the bag, he wouldn't have been in there at all. Anyone could say that it's better for a star to sit a play out rather than get a major injury, but no one knows when that injury is going to happen.
