I remember going to a Marty Robbins museum when visiting Nashville a number of years ago. (I lived in Atlanta at the time). It's no longer here. I saw there's a museum for him in Arizona, though.

Marty loved to race cars. He was actually a NASCAR driver at one time. I remember there were one or two of his cars at the museum.

His songs Feleena and El Paso City were good too.

I remember watching "the life and times of Marty Robbins" on TNN (back when it was TNN and not...um...paramount network now? I think?). totally burned the candle at both ends.

Something I learned today about Marty. He wrote a song that was deemed too political in nature, and his record company refused to release it.

Actually kind of a good song. And by todays standards, kind of tame.

 
Never heard of him either. but I was dragged to a concert at the Gorge two years ago, forget who the guy was, but if you are ever wondering "how the hell did Trump win an election", just find your nearest country festival/concert. Yikes.

I moved to Nashville for one reason.....and one reason only. (BTW, this pic was taken at Timberline Lodge when she visited Portland.)

If screwing up big time is watering down letting his racism go public......he sure did. I have no idea who he is....my idea of good country music would be James Taylor, Neil Young, Steve Earle, Doc Watson, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins or Patsy Cline or Dolly....I grew up when the radio didn't have categories for music....a good song was just a good song like For the Good Times by Kris Kristopherson....my favorite country album is Ray Charles sings the sounds of Modern Country.....Georgia is on that one. I love Willie Nelsons voice and guitar...Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain....Patsy Cline on the radio would stand next to Frank Sinatra and the Beatles....that was a magical era of music...there was no country station...there was just the AM radio playing hits.

I love country music. Didn’t really when I was younger and loved jazz the most. Now I like country the most.

I was at a Duck's tailgate party years ago and the MAGA hat fuck there ....loudmouth...no surprise there ...cornered my wife and started to tell her what Chinese people are like...she made a fool out of him in about 2 seconds...turns out the guy knew nothing about Chinese culture....just had his racist ideas that guided his political views.
