Trump town hall sparks behind-the-scenes fury at NBC

MIAMI — NBC has been rocked by an internal feud over its decision to host a town hall with Donald Trump at the same time as ABC’s Thursday event with Joe Biden, a scheduling move that critics contend is a gift to the president after he refused to participate in a debate originally scheduled for Thursday.

The internal conflict extends to the highest levels of NBCUniversal, where MSNBC head Phil Griffin strongly disagreed with NBC News President Noah Oppenheim’s decision to unilaterally move forward with the town hall during that time slot, according to three high-ranking sources at the TV media giant.

Wow, Savannah, the NBC mod, wants to be central.

Trump has been WAY sharp, tonight! Haven't caught the Biden event as of yet.

Trump just repeated the same tripe he has been. Again, he shared no real plans or much anything of substance I thought Savannah did a good job.

Biden is actually going in to all his plans. He is carrying on a bit at times, but he is talking about all the right things.

Biden is sharing crap. Toeing the "company" line.

Biden freakin' makes me cringe.

I listen to a little of both and Guthrie was out to get Trump, that was obvious but OK.
Joe got an armchair discussion with a gentlemen.
You'd think that of all the candidates of both parties between 2016 & 2020, we'd come up with better selections.

Biden didn't get off Scott free. Stephanopoulos asked him hard questions too.

Fake News

He said instead of cops going for the kill if they need to shoot someone, shoot them in the leg, somewhere that won't kill them. He talked about police reform.

Context matters
not a great answer but not a big deal. Shooting someone in the leg can still be lethal.

Didnt see it all, but the question about fracking was presented to him in a congenial manner, I thought. Im sure those two are buds and Stepanopoulos didn't come across as trying to bait Joe. Which is cool.

It can be if you shoot them in the femoral. I do think police need to be trained to take non lethal shots rather than lethal ones and that is very doable.

But, he went back to it to make sure Joe answered it.

Joe actually got to answer questions tonight rather than to be interrupted every 2 seconds by Trump

Asked during a televised town hall in Philadelphia whether supporting the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act was a mistake, Biden said that “yes, it was.”

But Biden also said that the worst effects of the crime bill came as a result of decisions made on the part of individual states after its passage.

“The mistake came in terms of what the states did locally. What we did federally – you remember George, it was all about the same time for the same crime,” Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.

Biden also noted that the bill had broad support among prominent Black leaders at the time and that things have “changed drastically” since then. Nevertheless, he repeated, “it was a mistake.”

And Biden can admit his mistakes something Trump could never and will never do

And this was why Trump was "attacked" more by the moderator because he spews lie after lie and he was being called out for it

Biden didn't need to be challenged often in his town hall because he wasn't spewing nonsensical lies, he was being honest and respectful. He was excitedly talking in depth about his actual plans.

@ABM - Sincere questions: Can you explain why his lies are not a disqualifier for you? I tried to watch his town hall but it was all so much BS - he's for DACA, doesn't know what QAnon is, Obama killed Seal Team 6, or his "healthcare plan", or his Covid test - I mean how can you take anything he says seriously?

And what I know about liars is that they think the truth is worse - so he knows everything is shit and that's why he has to spin an alternate reality.

What am I missing?
