Dumpy's Summer League Adventure

You guys are old...

My first instinct was to be surprised at the lack of posters in their 30s. Seems like we've got a lot of 23-24 year olds and younger, and a bunch of old fogies in their 40s.

I suppose it's probably Steph's fault, eh?

Anyway, the bottom line is that "intelligent reporting via NetsDaily" = "instant celebrity among local sportswriters and Sussman." I'm writing up my petition to be involved as we speak.

With that said, fun read Dumpy! It's nice to see NetsDaily slowly and surely begin its Google-like death march towards total domination of everything Nets-news related. Today on-site reporting, tomorrow the world!

You had me actually believing this in that "other" thread. Now I find out you're 41-ish. Welcome to middle age, my friend!
</div>

It's still younger than 43!
</div>

Ha! 44 now. Had a birthday June 30th.

I hate to break it to you, but those 3 years are pretty insignificant once you get this old. Rather than challenge Vince to a footrace, I think you should challenge me to a game of 30. First one to 30 without a torn knee ligament wins.

This thread has taken a bunch of real classy turns. And they say people get more mature as they grow older... this might prove otherwise!

I would love to watch this game.. haha. Anyway I don't know why, but I always thought Dumpy was 22-25 years old...
Also I want to know who is the oldest & youngest poster on the Nets forum! Lol just for kicks

On the Nets forum?! Then I wonder if the youngest age is around 10-12 years of age.

I'm 17. You lose.

My age can only be represented in imaginary numbers, you all lose.

I uploaded two short videos from the Indiana Summer League game. Sorry for the delay--the camera didn't interact with Vista, and I had to pull out an old laptop.

The first video is of a play the Nets ran sometime during the first half, and demonstrates some nice ball movement. This is a good example of what I meant when I stated that Ryan Anderson was lining up as if he was a SG.

The second video, which is longer, shows about two-three minutes of game action towards the end of the game.

Then the camera ran out of memory.

This will give you a good idea of what the summer league game was like, and what it was like watching from that close distance.

Great stuff Dumpy.

Brook has so much work to do. On defense he takes bad angles and gets in poor position. On offense, he settles too much and has a way of making his shot more difficult than it needs to be. It looks like he is use to being bigger than his defenders and just puts himself in position to shoot over them instead of drawing contact.

He must have watched too much film of JON

you can really see all that from the clip? seriously, i had a very hard time following what was going on from that angle. at what point in the clip would you point to to show poor defense?

Look at the Nets first defensive sequence on the second video. Brook got down the floor fine, but he wasn't deep enough to protect the basket and then just attempted to recover by sticking his arms up. The next defense sequence, he beat his man down the floor and waited near the foul line for him. As the guy came down, Brook floated towards the basket, but had no contact with his man. Then he made a half heated attempt to run out at the shooter and stopped.

hm, very interesting. I wish I had a longer video. He's really big, though.

I need to bump this to congratulate Dumpy, and to express my envy. Great article. The exchange with Sussman was awesome. That must have been nice to hear. In 50 years, when I get old and retire in Florida, I hope I can do the same.

If I'm right about what you're thinking:
Dumpy's not 65, or retired.

Did you end up going to that regular season Nets @ Orlando game?

All you need to know about Dumpy's age is that he's WAY younger than I.

Thanks. I can't wait until I can move away from this miserable state, though.

Don't you live near the Tampa area (guessing from the trip to Busch Gardens, and being a Rays fan). I liked Tampa, when I visited (though that was 2 years ago)
