I finally did it! After a month of agonozing, I bought a new TV! Sixty-inch Sony rear projection. The large rear projection screens just can't be beat in terms of cost and quality, and Sony seems to be the best. Sony has just come out with a new model, so the older model--which, by all accounts, is exactly the same--has been reduced. And, I discovered that if I open a credit account at Sears, they'll knock $250 off the price. Score!

They're delivering it on Friday. So I need a stand for it by then . . . I just can't find one that I like. I'm going to run it through my stereo, so it needs to have enough shelf space for all my stereo components. Sony also sells a center/rear speaker combo to supplement your existing steroe system to get surround sound, so you don't have to buy a complete new sound system. Sony's surround sound systems are pretty good, so I'm going to give it a try--just $90 on Amazon.

Sears sells a stand for a 60" rear projection TV that I can live with, but they won't deliver it until next week, and it is too big to fit in my car. So my options now are: (1) rent a pickup/large SUV; (2) change the delivery date of the TV to next week; (3) spend a day running around to every store in the area to try to find a stand I like, and that can be delivered by Thursday. I've been checking the web sites of target, wal-mart, amazon, etc., and can't really find anything I'm happy with. There are a couple I like available on Amazon, but they won't be delivered for a week, so it won't help (they aren't eligible for one-day shipping).
