Durant to GSW

Also Barnes has now become an unrestricted FA -- Pull Turner Offer and go after Barnes -- i am not a fan of Barnes but do it to screw with the Mavs or at least put feelers out to Barnes camp and see if he would be interested.
Barnes is a lock for Dallas.

I am guessing Cuban knew.... he has probably been talking to GSW all along.

Fuck you Cuban.

It's amazing because I used to like the Warriors... they were my second favorite team about ten years ago.

Now I can't stand them.

I enjoyed watching them when they had Run TMC. Hardaway was one of my favorites back in the day!

Even if the Blazers do not go for Barnes now i bet one team does and might be the Thunder

It's too early to react to your snark....it was a smart move whether they took two seconds to think about it or not....glad my post has you laughing out loud though....I prefer talking with fans to talking at them....give it a try...acting isn't really a skillset I have
strenuus clearly had boo-berries for breakfast this morning.

Fuck me...living in the Bay Area is going to be unbearable for the next couple of years.

My 9 yr old son just woke up and when I broke the news to him, he just threw his arms down and, with a look of utter disgust, could only muster the words: "really?" Then he walked out of the room.

The poor kid is CA born and raised; a part of me wishes I could've/would've convinced him to be a GSW fan so that he wouldn't have to endure the torture us Blazer fans do year after year . . .

Only solace we can take from this is that nothing is guaranteed and they still have to play the games before collecting those rings. I mean, shit, Roy, LMA, and Oden looked on paper like they were going to net us a bunch of titles and we all know how that turned out. Not (openly) rooting for injuries but that shit happens to the best of 'em.

I honestly like it. It is a cool experiment and we will see if these guys can really win it all or if it will all blow up in smoke because there are too many people needing the ball or injuries will happen. Remember - GSW is going to lose some depth compared to this year. An injury or two could be a lot more problematic for them next year.

I am also under the impression that Cleveland players are going to be excited about this. Say what you want about LeBron - but when he is locked in - he is hard to stop - this might just give him that extra fire to go full nuts next year.

At the end of the day, like this year's GSW proved - it is not over until it is over. Next year will be very exciting to see.

Minnesota says hi. They won't suck this year. Utah won't either. Hell, OKC won't either if they keep Westbrook
Are you claiming that you think the Twolves will be a better team than us this year? Or any of the aforementioned teams?

I am claiming it's July 4th, and Minnesota has some REALLY nice young players. Asinine to say we will win the division

This not only will be a salary clearing process this summer, but also next summer for GSW, since they won't own Durant's bird rights.

On the plus side, the Northwest Division just got an opening at the top.

This is the kind of crap I really hate. LeBron went to Mami and got his, now Durant goes to the Warriors to get his. Free agency is good for the players but horrible for the smaller market teams, who always lose out.
And yet the NBA is probably kinder on small markets than most sports leagues. (This is why Leicester was such a huge deal.)

Yeah, I know, the NFL. But you can't compare them: they play so many fewer games, and if they played best-of-seven series the big market teams would almost certainly always win.

Yep, this is awful for the league. Even though they won 73 games last year, there was still parity. Now it's all gone. Bron might be the only player who can put a stop to this, but even he's about to turn 32 in December. These next 4-5 years could be pointless. As a die-hard Blazers fan, this is a bummer.
This reminds me of when we drafted Oden and we were making plans for a decade of championships.

This is not going to be fun for Durant. There is no way Golden State will match or improve on last year's regular season. It's not going to happen. And we all know how fans overreact. Warrior fan boys are going to torch Durant.
You're right of course. And of course, NOBODY is going to feel sorry for him.

Only LeBron knows the hate he's about to have directed his way. And I think LeBron is a lot more mentally tough. (But even he was rocked back on his heels by it.)

Wow. It's going to be incredible to see.

It screws the rest of the league, but I take great solace in the fact that LaMarshmallow will NEVER win anything now. His move to SA was for nothing.

Also, I have disliked OKC for a long time. Kind of happy to see it.

This move is incredibly destabilizing. Lots of teams will be pulling a Sixer and tanking. There will be A LOT of talent available for cheap. I say we try and go get some. We're young enough to be able to weather this (minimum) two year beatdown.

On the flip side, if we would have honked twice, I don't think we could fathom the depths of our depression right now.

Teams are not going to start taking and giving away their talent because of this. How would that help their ratings and ticket sales? Every team wants to be as competitive as possible.

My only hope is that Durant stews and becomes a cancer in their locker room after people only talk about Steph and wonder why his numbers have gone down.

How much could he possibly average in a lineup with Steph/Klay/Draymond?

You ARE the biggest loser.

Well, until next year, when you dump OKC and make their fans the biggest losers.
Huh. From what people have said about Westbrook over the years, you'd think the consensus would be that this is what he's always dreamed of.

What's Iggy thinking, I wonder. "How come the Finals MVP, who sacrificed a starting place and does nothing but dirty work earns peanuts?"

Best chance is for Green to become a cancer. I could see it happening and I'm sure he could do some damage to the locker room. I would luv that!

My hope is that Silver isn't a huge fan of this and tells the refs not to give the Warriors any special treatment.
