Yeah, Imma have to go with RoyToy on this. Batum clearly took a swing. You don't take a close-fisted swing and have that fit of rage on your face to swipe at the basketball. You could argue he was trying to hit him, but not in the nuts. Then you'd have to ask yourself why Batum was swinging that low, rather than for the stomach, chest, head, arms, etc. Batum's intent was pretty clear to me. He later addressed it and said he was embarrassed, ashamed, lost his cool, etc. If he was just worked up and going for th basketball, there'd be no reason for him to address the issue.

He even said he wanted to give Navarro "a good reason to flop."

But Batum's motivation was that Navarro and his teammates had been flopping all game long, and getting the calls. So, therefore, flipping sucks. And superstar calls suck even more.

If I had to choose, and I hope I don't, I'd rather take the glancing punch than the direct kick. Wade's was dirty and unprovoked. I'm still waiting for Wade to receive the same level of criticism Batum recieved. But I'm not holding my breath.

Again, I call bullshit. Watch it in slow motion. His fist changes direction almost 90° at the very last instant when Nic's armpit hits Navarro's shoulder. He threw an unnecessarily hard, cheap-shop punch in the general direction of the basketball, not caring where it landed. No way in hell could he (nor could the world's best MMA fighters) intentionally re-direct that punch at the last split-second in order to land in the cojones, especially since he's not looking where he's punching. Uncool? Yes. Unprofessional? Certainly. Intended to hit smelly little Spaniard man-berries? Not a fucking chance.
