Portland Trail Blazer owner Paul Allen is once again entertaining offers to sell the team, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

At least two groups have apparently approached Allen, who briefly put the team on the market in the spring of 2006 before apparently changing his mind and withdrawing it. At that time, it was reported that as many as 14 groups expressed an interest in purchasing the team and its arena, the Rose Garden, and were asked to pay a $100,000 application fee to validate their interest.

One of those interested groups is said to be based in Los Angeles and the other is said to be a local group. One of the prospective purchasing groups is far enough along in discussions that it has scheduled a trip to the Rose Quarter to look at the team’s books and assess the arena.

It has been emphasized that neither group has any interest in moving the team out of Portland. The team’s lease and “exclusive site agreement” – which was personally guaranteed by Allen’s signature -- ensures the team cannot be moved through 2023.

I'm not in the Los Angeles group. Or am I?

This dude Jaynes is hard to believe because he's always so full of shit.

That's why i put "Dwight Jaynes says", he is usually full of shit, but he was right about Gerald Wallace if i remember correctly.

Selling the team would be the best thing Allen could do for this franchise.

You've got to start looking at some of the losing bidders for the Dodgers as potential owner groups, as far as LA is concerned.

And coincidentally Mags is up here from LA...

"I'll give you two barely legal russian blondes and a thick mexican chick for the Blazers"

I'll counter by accepting the ruskie broads, but toss in HCP's wife instead of the thick Spanish chic and...., er, ...... wait..... hell, there's no difference there. Screw it, done deal!

Is Mags buying the Blazers? How awkward...... but at least I can say I banged the owners wife!

Out of curiosity, what it is that Jaynes has lied about in the past? I hear this all the time about him, but aside from his curmudgeonly nature and acerbic, condescending tone that pisses people off, what is it that he's been so wildly wrong about?

Is it really that hard to believe that Allen might be entertaining offers? He did say directly that he'd consider selling the team back in the fall if he had to go into another rebuild.

He has been hard on the Blazers, so people think he is full of shit.

I have two thoughts on this, first, I would guess he was tipped off by the other bald headed dolt who teased this idea two weeks ago.

seconed, the way things are structured, the player contracts, potential space under the cap, lottery picks and positions that are open, yeah, I do believe that this is how one readies a team to place on the market.

Had he not posted this how many fewer people would have clicked on his page? (The HCP never clicks on a link from Quick/Canzano/Jaynes ever) I just don't like how in the past he just makes random shit up for shock value.

I guess, that's what I'm saying; all of the tea leaves kind of point to the team being readied for a sale (or at least being put in a prime position) ... that doesn't mean it will happen, but it's as likely as it's ever been. Maybe Dwight Jaynes is just making this up, but is really that hard to believe?

If it was Chris Haynes, or Wendell Maxey or a national guy like David Aldridge or Woj or Spears would you buy it?

All seems a little too perfect, doesn't it? Maybe that's why they're trying to make the playoffs too. A "playoff team" is worth more

Good draft picks, NO GM and an interim video coach, lots of capspace comin up - it does seen almost too well set up to be true....lol

+1. I totally agree. The team does have a lot in place that makes it look like it could be up for sale, or at least enticing to potential buyers. Plus, Paul Allen has had the team on the market before. And it's not like the article says that PA is actively shopping the team.

It seems quite conceivable that these groups, seeing the posturing the organization has done and given Allen's previous listing of the team and the rumors surrounding its' possible availability, some groups decided to reach out to PA and see if he'd be willing to sell. And PA would be a fool to not at least listen.

Not Chris Haynes....... A national guy I might buy it. I just know how little respect anybody has for Jaynes, I don't buy his bullshit. Nobody around the organization talks to him.
