Dwight Jaynes says two groups are interested in buying the team from PA

Not Chris Haynes....... A national guy I might buy it. I just know how little respect anybody has for Jaynes, I don't buy his bullshit. Nobody around the organization talks to him.

It doesn't have to be someone from the organization in this case. It could easily be someone from one of the buyers.

Gramps getting in on the action with HCP's wife!

And making funny comments!

It was just too easy. I couldn't resist. Besides, I had to say she tweeted as I have never met her (or HCP for that matter).

Gramps...

That was a nice little piece of real-time radio with Allen responding while Jaynes is on talking about his story.

Selling the team would be the best thing Allen could do for this franchise.

Please please please make this be true. Ideally to the local group, and then hire somebody like Jerry Sloan to be VP of Basketball Operations, with a younger, established GM (Kevin Pritchard/Tom Penn combo again? lol), and a top assistant coach in the mold of an Elston Turner, Brian Shaw, or even a Mike Budenholzer to become head coach.

I'll even help pay for a statue of Bert Kolde in front of the RG if it will persuade Paul to sell the team.

Interesting. Your first reaction is that Paul is lying and my first reaction is that Jaynes is full of shit.

I didn't say he was lying. I just found it interesting that he felt the need to respond at all.

In my opinion, Jaynes is a washed up hack. I have worked on shows with him and heard him talk about trying to get as many hits as possible on his site or links. Just thrown' shit out there like Canzano and Quick to stir it up!

Didn't sound like spin to me. It was about as unequivocal as can be, short of challenging Jaynes to a duel at 40 paces.

He didn't respond to the Steve Kerr talk, so I guess that's real then? My point is that there was no need to come out and say anything, so the fact that he did tells me there is something to it. Like giving a coach a vote of confidence. All that means is he will be fired within a couple of weeks

Allen tweets that these rumors are false:

I don't think there is really going to be an advantage to having Paul sell. Why would we NOT want a billionare owner? We just need to get good management in place. Paul doesn't need the money, he just wants a winning team. We should feel lucky to have an owner like that, who won't sell draft picks etc.....

The new CBA makes it much more difficult to buy a winner, unless that team is in a large market where high revenue can off-set the huge luxury tax penalties that are set to take effect ... and Paul has been much tighter with his wallet since the heady days of Bob Whitsitt (rightfully so). In short, Allen's riches are just not as available to the team as they once were, and his ability to spend is curtailed.

That's what I don't understand - why would we want a different owner? It's not as if our owner has handicapped our ability to win by going cheap on us. In fact, he's gone above and beyond - just hasn't quite worked out yet.

Not to mention his word is final on all basketball operations and he didn't exactly make his billions off of his vast basketball knowledge and experience. That'd be like me buying a software company and telling the programmers what code to write.

Someone like Jerry Sloan for VP of operations? That is hilarious. He barely made it to the war room on draft day. He would absolutely hate a job like that. I guess there is a slim chance he may coach again, but that would be the only thing getting him off that tractor.

I don't see many advantages to Paul selling either. There is no doubt in my mind he will spend the money if needed. Just get him the players. He leaves his GM alone until they fuck up. He just needs a good GM.

Which owner did. Oh yeah MJ......

Did any owner, except Jordan, get rich off basketball? They all got rich elsewhere or were born rich. The smart ones hired people who know basketball. Allen didn't get rich as a brain surgeon either, does that mean he shouldn't invest in brain research?

The dumb ones listen to Bert Kolde and Hat Guy.

Bert Kolde and Hat guys may be idiots, but they have very little to do with the Blazer problems. They don't draft, coach or injure players. What stupid input they may or may not give is irrelevent IMO. They are bit players in this mess.

Well, that's one opinion. Hat Guy got fired last summer, anyhow.

Jaynes is a piece of shit that needs to die of a very painful death.

Blazers: For Sale?!

Paul Allen denies Blazers for sale

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Billionaire Paul Allen is emphatically refuting reports that he is entertaining offers for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Allen went to Twitter on Thursday to rebut the report, which appeared in a blog post on Comcast SportsNet Northwest's website. CSNNW broadcasts Trail Blazers games.

David Postman, a spokesman for Allen, also disputed the blog post.

There have been rumors swirling in recent months that the Microsoft co-founder is positioning the team for sale. Talk of a sale has escalated recently with the firing of head coach Nate McMillan. The Blazers are also operating under an interim general manager.

In an interview with several media outlets in December at the start of the lockout-shortened season, Allen also denied he intended to sell the team.
