First there was the bagless vacuum cleaner, then the towel-less hand dryer: Now James Dyson, the British inventor, has developed a bladeless electric fan which goes on sale on Tuesday in the US and Australia.

The Dyson Air Multiplier fan – which looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie – uses advancements in airflow engineering instead of traditional blades to ‘multiply’ air 15 times and push out 119 gallons of smooth and uninterrupted air every second.

I like the way Dyson thinks. He seems to focus on ignored technologies and looks for new angles.

I kind of like it. Not sure if I'll buy one...I've been wanting one of the Dyson Hand dryers though...love those things.

When they implement this in a bagel - I will buy one!

This seems like playing with technology in order to play with technology - which is fun and all - but not really the big advance one would assume. Sort of like the 2 wheel Segway achieving through complicated technology what a small 3rd wheel would have done cheaply. This is a cool way to solve the "problem" of putting a wire mesh over the blades to make the fan safe...

From a design standpoint, however, it is elegant. Bang & Olufsen has created a niche in the audio market based on design rather than function. Is there any question McIntosh creates purer and more transparent sound than B&O? Of course not. However, McIntosh is clunky and B&O is really flippin' cool.

Its around $300-$325 which is a high price point but considering the aesthetics and technology, that's not terrible.

For function, it may not make sense but for the gadget-o-phile, its kind of a must have.

Not to be rude, but I find it hilarious that some of you are excited about a fan. Nerd alert! :devilwink:

Engadget (an elctronics blog) wasn't incredibly impressed. The blades are in the main canister and apparently it is as
loud as a vacuum. Interesting design but I'll pass.

What the fuck lol is this real?! I have never heard so many words, that I have never heard before lol

That is an improvement on the Dyson bladeless electric fan - because it does not just blow air, it blows hot air! :devilwink:

would you rather have:
1. Dyson Fan

2. HCP's TV

I'd go with the fan.

I want a Dyson TV(*).

(*) - It's a big rectangular wire frame where people stand behind and play roles on TV series (you should see HCP doing the Jennifer Aniston, uncanny, I tell ya, uncanny.) It solves the problem of the government control your thoughts through the TV waves.

They released an improved version of that recently... It blows warm air.
