Groups Give Biden 10 Executive Actions to Put 'People Over Fossil Fuels'

"The future of life on Earth depends on whether Biden will use his powers or surrender to a fossil-fueled catastrophe," said one advocate.

It seems that our government is protecting the very industries that are destroying our planet.

With our government this compromised, we don't stand much of a chance.

I saw a recent episode of Nova that showed how dire the peril is from the warming of the Earth. In it they showed how frozen methane was being melted and released into our atmosphere. We are doomed if we don't do something fast.

This is "could eventually". Which is a far cry from "is the fallout".

There is a likelyhood that eventually the earth would swing back to ice age. But of course, it would eventually swing back to warmer again as well. Over tens of thousands of years.

This is somewhat like people saying "climate change has always been happening".

Sure, the climate has always changed, but not at even close to the rate of change that man-made climate change is causing.

Of course, there is a small chance that it could happen far faster. But that is very much counter what most climate models suggest.

Changes in ocean 'conveyor belt' foretold abrupt climate changes by four centuries

Summary:
In the Atlantic Ocean, a giant 'conveyor belt' carries warm waters from the tropics into the North Atlantic, where they cool and sink and then return southwards in the deep ocean. This circulation pattern is an important player in the global climate. Evidence increasingly suggests that this system is slowing down, and some scientists fear it could have major effects. A new study provides insight into how quickly such changes could take effect if the system continues weakening.

A critical ocean system may be heading for collapse due to climate change, study finds
‘The consequences of a collapse would likely be far-reaching’

Human-caused warming has led to an “almost complete loss of stability” in the system that drives Atlantic Ocean currents, a new study has found — raising the worrying prospect that this critical aquatic “conveyor belt” could be close to collapse.

In recent years,
scientists have warned about a weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), which transports warm, salty water from the tropics to northern Europe and then sends colder water back south along the ocean floor. Researchers who study ancient climate change have also uncovered evidence that the AMOC can turn off abruptly, causing wild temperature swings and other dramatic shifts in global weather systems.

Yeah, it's not impossible. But again, this is not likely. Hence, I don't think so.

We will all be dead before any of this happens.

Those are articles by climatologists.
Well there are climatologists and there are climatologists who know what they're talking about.
Think about it, as glaciers melt there is less white to reflect the infra red sunlight creating a positive feedback in the Earth's warming.
Add to that the Earth holds a vast amount of methane in the form of frozen methane and methane is a terrific pollutant causing Global Warming. Now, the methane is beginning to melt but doesn't really go through a liquid phase as it melts. It pretty much has only a frozen or gas phase. So, the more that melts the more it causes melting, creating yet another positive feedback. Once you get those feed backs over a limit all hell breaks loose and there's no going back for the foreseeable future.

Why is the climate in London more similar to NY than it is to places in North America that are on the same longitude?

It's because of the global conveyor.

The increase in ice melt is decreasing the salinity in the Atlantic ocean.

That could cause the global conveyor to stop.

Meaning the warm water and air flows will stop and can result in ice and cold weather actually increasing in areas.
