I'm upset by all of that, except you don't usually see some kid walk into a thread like that and say, "we shouldn't be outraged" or something to that effect.

We also have this taped, and it's long and hard to watch. That's not always the case with horrible crimes. It's all sad of course but this thread is under unique circumstances.

Don't generalize this thread. It's not just the crime that upsets me, but rather the attitude of certain people towards it.

Well like huevon said, it's filmed and you can put yourself in her shoes I guess more so then an Iraqi solider. It's like when thousands of people die and society says "Oh, that's horrible." But if a baby or dog dies, it's a lot worse. It's sad, but it's true. And like I said, people are way more sympathetic for a dog or teenager or small child then a full grown adult who can make better decisions and who can protect themselves.
 
My take on this:

The "LOL" in the title was a bad decision. But you guys know hawksfan, he ends everything in LOL. I probably should have deleted my post after CPaw fixed the description.

I don't think he was being nonchalant, but more confused on why we (rightfully so) flipped a shit over this, but not the crimes the occur every single day. He could, and should have, worded it better. He never said that the fight wasn't wrong, because it was, and he knows it. Again, the wording was wrong.
 
Ah and to reiterate, hawksfan also criticized this girl's fighting skills. And he actually thinks she could have beat them all with a belt or plate of some sort. That was rude towards the victim.

Patrick Lindsay, who still refuses to look at the taped beating, is advocating for removal of these types of videos from Internet sites like MySpace and YouTube.

"As far as I am concerned, MySpace is the anti-Christ for children," he said. "I hope this comes to a final resolution. I am not going to stop here."

Lindsay, her father acknowledges, wasn't perfect and had her share of problems, and was not living at home at the time of the incident.

After an argument with her parents, Lindsay had been living with Nichols for about a week when the beating occurred.

While she was well-liked among her friends, an honor student and maintained a job, her father said, she also had a history of anger problems.

A few years ago she had a fight with her mother, and had been put on probation, he said.

Judd said investigators suspect there were as many five video clips of the incident taken by more than one camera. Investigators have only been able to track down one.

That video, which was made available to the media, shows several girls taunting and hitting Lindsay, who was not seen fighting back.

Judd said the video obtained by investigators shows only the latter half of what happened. What happened earlier isn't part of the video.

Following their arrests the girls joked in a holding cell. One asked if she would be able to make it to cheerleading practice the next day, while several others joked that they wouldn't be making it back to the beach anytime soon, he said.

"They seemed to have absolutely no remorse at all," Judd said. "They were just going to beat her. And beat her they did."</div>

Seriously worse shit happens every day that doesn't even make local news. And to that one guy talking mess, womans self defense is so ****ing easy. One woman could defend herself against 10-15 women with a plate/vase in her hand. None of them have the balls to be the one to take the hit for the team.

I personally would give at lest 20 years in prison everyone who participated in this event. (beating)


We need to be harsh with criminals (and in this case they are that), so that when someone else thinks about doing it, we are even harsher and thats the only way to prevent it.

What part didn't you understand? People get outraged by all the horror stories out there. Even if you disagree, that doesn't mean you have to be an insensitive jerk and start bitching about the way this girl fought after being knocked unconscious. Yes it is a big deal.No, we're not all thugs like you who know how to beat up 15 people in a room. That claim sounds ridiculous, stop trying to actually defend it. Did you even read the story? It totally sounds like you know none of the details. There were a couple of guys involved in this too, not just women. She loses.

You're totally right. Like someone else said it makes it more tangible though when you get it on video. There's also something to be said for the level of innocence of the person as well. People who die "on the streets" or in Iraq usually know what they're in for. Granted, theres a lot of innocent people who die on the streets but when you're talking about gang members, drug dealers, or someone like that you know that they know they could get killed at any time. Same with soldiers in Iraq. They signed up for it, they know what could happen. Still terrible when they die but its not like its a huge surprise shocker that they got aced when they were signed up to be in a war or chose to live a dangerous lifestyle in the streets.

This video hits home because its one chick being held against her will and beaten pretty badly. To people saying she should have fought back I think she did the right thing in just taking the beating. If she starts going nuts trying to fight against them they're just going to kick her ass all at the same time. In the video at least she only had to deal with people swinging at her one at a time with breaks inbetween. Get a weapon and start using that? LMFAO. In that situation I don't see how that could possibly not result in the weapon being turned on her. She took a beating and I give her props for that. IMO if she fought back or used a weapon it would have made it much, much worse on herself even if she did a little bit of damage to the others.

I've seen plenty of people jumped. I've seen several girl fights and jumpings. I saw a dude get hit in the face with a bat then take a few more blows with the bat when he was on the ground. I've seen plenty of my friends get the shit kicked out of them. One of my friends stood up to a gang of dudes after all his friends left; he ended up taking hammers and belts to the face and was basically unrecognizable for a few weeks. But this video makes me feel as bad or worse for this girl because in pretty much all of those cases those people knew what they were getting themselves into. They could have walked away or not started the confrontation at all. They knew when they started the shit what could have happened and I think they would tell you that to this day. They also didn't get their ass kicked for 35 fucking minutes. They weren't essentially kidnapped and held against their will. I'm sure this girl did do some stupid shit to make the other chicks beat her ass but come on posting something on myspace? Fucking kids these days are insane. Doesn't surprise me too much that it happened in Florida, white trash capital of the world (not saying all whites in FLA are white trash but it was pretty sketch from what I've seen).

I just can't help but imagine some of my friends in that situation. Like someone else said its a 90 lb. girl getting trapped and beaten for over a half an hour. Just imagining some of my 90-100 lb friends in that situation gets me pissed off.

What knife are you talking about? I didn't see one. You were talking about a plate or belt like it was a machine gun or something. Sorry man, sometimes one is going to get fucked up in a fight no matter what they do.

The girl walked into the room and was knocked unconscious. She was probably still suffering from the effects of a concussion too. It could have easily been manslaughter in these buffoons' wild rage so it is a disturbing movie when putting all those pieces together.

Why would there be dangerous weapons lying around (a plate or belt doesn't cut it), and/or why would these group of girls let her grab it without a fight? How could she wield it effectively in her condition? Give someone a knife after they got knocked the hell out and they won't be using it too well.

Run BJM's assessment of the situation sounds much more logical as well. She would have gotten beaten up worse if she tried anything. It's laughable that you think the boys would be concerned with hitting this poor girl after they already kidnapped her and knew their friends were pounding on her. You think they wouldn't make a move? A terribly large leap of faith. It definitely sounds like you pre-determined this theory of yours before remembering they had a couple of guys on their side as insurance.

Wow, I'm going to have to check with my boss to see if I have the right to carry and conceal a plate on the job. These little creeps should be tried as adults and put away for awhile. If we want a civil society then we can't tolerate bullies and punks breaking our laws and using violence to get their way. What you tolerate, you encourage. What scares me the most is that these little sluts might reproduce. So much for evolution.
 
They had a HUGE fight at this festival on Saturday,and I mean HUGE. It was like 3o black dudes vs. like 15 Hispanic dudes, and they were going at it, You saw dudes going down every two seconds, whats fucked up is the police came like 30 minutes after the whole thing ended.
