those that do pay for tuition help pay for the illegals.

Tuition-payers don't subsidize scholarships, since tuition doesn't pay the full ride. Donors and philanthropists are the ones who fund full-, partial-, and non-tuition-paying students.

On the other hand, we're going to get better at soccer for sure

I don't believe that for a second. I'm sure thats what they say happens, but between funding they receive and tuition, they can't account for specifics.

Who are you talking about? They? I promise you the Gates foundation has accounted for their donations. One of the great things about our country is the generosity of folks who donate to put kids through school...a lot of athletes do this as well...there are many things to complain about in the world but scholarship donations isn't one of them. My son got a full academic scholarship to OSU and he worked his butt off for it......he's grateful that he graduated without huge student loans. Believe what you like. I found them to be very meticulous in their accounting for information. Try applying for a scholarship and I highly doubt you'll run into anything that's not accounted for and documented

IMO this is fucked up. Harboring illegals AND those that do pay for tuition help pay for the illegals. Wow.

So what's the answer? It's not like these kids came here on their own. They went to school, they worked hard, earned a scholarship. Did you want to deport them for this? Only say they can go to college if they pay for it? Should the college or university help them to become citizens before they're allowed to graduate?

Nobody complained when we were stealing brilliant scientists, mathematicians and engineers from Russia or the Nazis back in the good old days...or gave them tenured jobs in our best universities. We've always attracted talent from more oppressive systems. Most people think of a guy like Bob Hope as the consummate American but he's from England....actually look back a few hundred years and the vast majority of us have foreign ancestry

I dont think people have an issue with immigration. I sure dont. What i dont agree with is illegal immigration. It is unfair. People that want to come here legally have to wait years at times to get here.

If your name is Einstein, you'll get legal status pretty quickly or if you're a Cuban with a 95 mph fastball...if you're a landscaper...good luck

Sure. Seems it would be the same way for lots of countries. Took my stepsister (she is 40 now) 10 years to get over here to be with her mom and brother (he got to come because he was 15 when she came over).

Foreigners go to school here on scholarships all the time. Student visas are handed out to anyone who gets accepted. I don't see how this is a big deal.

barfo

Bingo. And getting free rides through college because of it? Totally fucked up.

.....made me wonder if I lose my I.D can I go get a free ride at a college now. :) FUCK student loans eh?

Yeah, that's through a legal process of sending in an application and filling out paperwork. Nice and organized. If it happens "all the time", then its not too difficult I would assume.

A little different than running across a desert in defiance of international law and faking your identity.

You don't need to do that though...apply for grants and take courses at a community college..or online if you can finance it all. You can get a degree here without going deep into debt...not an advanced degree though

Why have any debt at all? I can just lose my ID and go to Georgetown! Then I can have my safe space on campus so that I don't face deportation when I fly home. Georgetown can harbor my illegal ass too, all on the backs of funding they receive whether it be federal, local, or boosters! woohoo!!

That man in the article was 4yrs old when he came here. I doubt he ran and or faked anything.

So what does that matter. He (the guy in the article) is an illegal immigrant. His entire family (which are undocumented) should be sent back to their originating country and apply to become citizens the CORRECT and legal way.

You don't have to be a citizen to go to a school anywhere....nothing stops you from getting a degree at the University of Tonga if you want to...and just how do you know what this dude's circumstances are? He's not hiding from anyone or losing his ID....you aren't illegal with a student visa first of all..

And you want Georgetown to do that?

Let me state again, my father came to this country legally, joined the military and became a citizen. He did it the CORRECT and legal way. I am against illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants have made things harder on my family.

That said, in this country we educate the children of illegals. It would be inhumane not to.

Bullshit, it would make them go home.

It's pretty simple Sly. You break the law you pay the price. Except in this case, people keep forgetting that Illegal Immigration is against the law. Harboring illegal aliens is against the law.

The US Federal Government cooperating with local state/city police should take these people back to where they belong and then they can work with the proper channels to get legal status.

Georgetown should get sanctions against themselves for providing benefits/harboring to illegal aliens.

Really? You actually think people would go back to their country of origin or do you think they just wouldn't educate their children?

Where do you think these schools get their funding dude? Taxpayers and of course donors/boosters/etc. WE are paying for these 'free rides' one way or another and it's not right. America should not be responsible for illegal immigration education.

Georgetown isn't harboring them....they are guaranteurs..which makes them sort of fiscally responsible if they screw up..that's any companies choice. I had a college guarantee my green card working overseas and it wasn't an American college...this is not unusual...thousands of American kids are studying abroad and teaching English under the table all over the world...really common...and they get paid about 2 times as much as the local English tutors...goes both ways
