Tough offseason #Blazers news to report: Guard Elliot Williams suffered a torn left Achilles tendon today during a voluntary workout.

Elliot Williams hurt!!!!!

ELLIOT WILLIAMS TO UNDERGO SURGERY FOR TORN LEFT ACHILLES TENDON

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Trail Blazers guard Elliot Williams will need to undergo surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey.

Williams, 23, sustained the injury during voluntary workouts at the team’s Practice Facility on Tuesday. A date for the surgery has not been set.

During his NBA career, Williams has averaged 3.7 points (50.0% FG), 0.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.25 steals and 6.2 minutes in 24 games. He played his final game last season on March 7 due to a left shoulder injury suffered during practice that required surgery on March 30. Williams missed the 2010-11 season due to surgeries on both knees.

A timetable for Williams’ return will be determined following the surgery

Time to give up on this prospect.

He's the epitome of injury prone.

Would people give a shit if he didn't have a 48 inch vertical?

Did Elliott buy Oden's old house or maybe start dating one of his exes? There must be some explanation for this curse.

Does HCP have a voodoo doll of the players that don't tip him well for his landscaping?

Re: Elliot Williams hurt!!!!!

Maybe the most unsurprising news of the off season

Re: Elliot Williams hurt!!!!!

are you fucking kidding!?

welcome to the backup spot Mr Barton.

I think this fanbase would implode had this been Damian.

Time to take him out behind the barn and shoot him.

The Rose Garden ought to be renamed to the 'House of PAIN'

He had potential as a spark off the bench, sucks for him, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over this.

Hope he has a speedy recovery.

He doesn't have a 48" vertical anymore. He'll now have the jumping ability of Sabonis.

It never fucking stops, does it?

I'm pretty sure he hadn't lost any athleticism before this injury. Do Achilles injuries usually significantly hinder jumping ability even after it's healed?

I blame this on the training staff and medical staff.

This is a guy who gains his advantage on his athleticism. The margins are so close in the NBA, he's likely lost that advantage.

Stick a fork in him. Another wasted draft pick. Another wasted draft year.

If several things go right, we should be in position to make the playoffs. Already, things are not going right.

I really didn't expect a thing from the guy, so while it sucks that he is injured yet again, it's really not that big of a loss. Anything he would have given the Blazers would have been a plus, but at best, he was going to be the 8th or 9th man.

Ah ... hmmm ... well, and here I thought maybe the voodoo curse had been lifted. Oh well, tough break. I hope he gets well and stops breaking himself, that sucks.
