Elliot Williams out for the season?

With Batum wanting more control of the ball, P&R's, maybe move Nic to SG?

Moving Nic to SG would depend on Claver.

He seems like he'd be perfect in the role that Nic hates -- corner three specialist.

OUCH!

Lost one of the potential chips in this Blazer development of all these new players. Elliot was one of the more exciting of the bunch to boot. Feel bad for the kid, for the team and for us fans.

Blazers have to get a break at some point, right?

So if he can't secure a spot on the Hornets (a team that is lacking for big men) what's the use of us having him? CJ is a waste of roster space and I'm not sure why anyone is high on him.

Edit:

After looking further, he isn't even on the roster:

Wow, Dviss. Did I read that correctly? You think CJ is a waste of roster space? We had a debate between Freeland and Bones. I was for Freeland and you were for Bones. What happened to make you change your mind about him?

That's because at the time I was not high on Freeland (after seeing some early film). He looked like a weak stiff. However my stance has softened tremendously after comparing the upside of the two. CJ (in the minutes he played) just got pushed around last season. I didn't care at all that we let him go. Maybe it also had something to do with CJ being on the roster that time and Freeland (sort of) acting like he wouldn't come over unless he had guaranteed minutes.

2 knees, a shoulder, and now an ankle. Does this kid have a healthy joint in his entire body?

Kevin Pritchard...the gift that just keeps on giving. I can't believe I used to defend that POS. It is getting hard to believe that he screwed us all this badly by accident.

This country needs a leader like Bob Whitsitt.

When I complained, I was totally joking. You guys are nerds posting on a forum...... Nothing your virgin fingers type can dent this armor FAMS!

That was my thought as well, but 2.0 doesn't like to offend anyone

Landry Fields, Jordan Crawford, Greivis Vasquez, Trevor Booker

I wasn't implying that there wasn't any decent players in the draft behind him but the majority of them have done nothing as well. In all drafts it's a crap shoot that late in the draft and nobody predicted that Williams would have this many injuries. EW had as much upside if not more than the majority of them.

Does anyone else think that this sealed his fate with Portland? I don't think there is any chance Olshey/Paul pick up his option.

I would bet we don't pick up his option.

I posted this in another thread. There's no way we pick up his option.

I just (probably more than anyone besides Lillard) wanted to see Elliot play. I thought he had the potential to be a star at the SG position (already has better handles and rack taking ability than Wes) with a few years of healthy play.

Now he's more injury prone than Brandon Roy. And I will bet, that EVERY ounce of athleticism leaves him due to this injury. We all saw what happened to Nique...

He will not be with the team next season I'll bet. His QO is 2.37MM next season:

http://www.storytellerscontracts.com/

Luke Babbitt 2.90MM
Jared Jeffries 1.54MM
Elliot Williams 2.37MM
Nolan Smith 1.42MM
Sasha Pavlovic 1.39MM

Their salaries = 9.62MM

We will have 41.58MM of dedicated salary after those contracts are off of our books. With the Cap of at least 58.044 (probably will be just a bit higher next season) that gives us a little more than 16.46MM in cap room.

Is Smith going to be more of a 6th man guy now at the PG and SG spot?

Brother, it is going to get ugly when Lillard gets into foul trouble(can't believe I just said this about an unproven rookie)....... He goes up against Nash/Westbrook/CP3/Tony Parker/Devin Harris in his first handful of games!

Babbitt is a pretty bad SF, he's better in situations where he can play PF. I don't know how Claver is gonna fit in yet.

Claver is going to be the 1st SF off of the Bench. Babbit is garbage and is more and more looking like Trade Bait. I STILL don't see what anyone sees in that cat.

That's he's already a couple of years ahead (and with higher upside) than guys like Bonner and Novak and only a slight tier behind Ryan Anderson. Did you miss him shooting 43% 3pt last year? Guy doesn't even make double the vet minimum.
(yeah, white 3-pt-shooting 6'9 guys FTW!)

All of which was done in garbage time (ends of blowouts and end of the season when nobody else was playing). I watch every game. I don't miss any.
Babbit, while being better than previous years, SUCKS...

Bonner, Novak both suck too. "Slight tier behind Ryan Anderson??" Ryan Anderson is 6'10" 240 and gets 16 and 8. Babbitt will never average those numbers even on a different team.

Anderson is a STARTER in this league. Babbitt may NEVER start. Are you only comparing them because they are both white? Because babbit isn't half the player Anderson is.

I would rather see Claver get more minutes as a regular reserve. However, Babbitt may get more time in the first half of the season in order to raise his stock value as trade bait.

There's a chance that could happen. But I think we get more by simply letting him go at the end of his contract. Do you really think someone is going to trade for Babbitt? I don't. He may be involved as filler for a trade. I still don't think that will happen. Let him play out his contract and keep the cap room. It's not like it's KP and Raef Lafrentz's expiring deal.

At best, we might get a 2nd round pick for Babbitt. Depends on the team having interest in him. That's worth exploring. It's not like our team is on a playoff trajectory this season anyhow.
