At best, we might get a 2nd round pick for Babbitt. Depends on the team having interest in him. That's worth exploring. It's not like our team is on a playoff trajectory this season anyhow.

It's pretty simple. He was a #16 and trading a 16 for a 2nd rounder means we failed by drafting him in the 1st place.

I agree with that. I only ask because the following aforementioned statement seems to contradict that:

There's a chance that could happen. But I think we get more by simply letting him go at the end of his contract. Do you really think someone is going to trade for Babbitt? I don't. He may be involved as filler for a trade. I still don't think that will happen. Let him play out his contract and keep the cap room. It's not like it's KP and Raef Lafrentz's expiring deal.
