Ellis will be traded sometime out of GSW. I think this could be a chance for the Blazers to fill their lineup with 4 Allstar caliber players. This trade works under all salary rules.

Portland Receives: Monta Ellis, GSW 2nd rounder
GSW Receives: Steve Blake, Jerryd Bayless, Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5287789

Starters: Ellis, Roy, Webster(Batum once healthy), Aldridge, Oden
Bench: PG/SG: Miller,Mills SF: Batum, Cunningham PF: Howard, Pendergraph Center: Przy

We lose all of our depth this year but the key is that Ellis is signed for 5 seasons, and Aldridge and Roy for 6 seasons. We automatically have 3 dynamic scorers, seems like a magic number for championship teams locked up and a dynamic defender and rebounder in Oden who still has 2 years left on his rookie deal. With 3 extra roster spots we can fill the team with the likes of a Stackhouse (backup SF) and other playoff vets.

I used to think Ellis would be an ideal backcourt partner for Roy but the guy has a piss poor attitude. He throws his teammates under the bus every chance he gets. Maybe not Marbury-crazy but the guy is out of his mind.

Isnt Monte Ellis a PG/SG combo? I thought we needed an answer at 3? Don't we only have one true SF on the team healthy right now?

Ellis' talents would be perfect for us. Not really sold on his attitude.

Lol they would say yes so fast they would probably choke on thier good fortune. Could probably be done for expirings

Does the wet weather in Portland really lends itself to prolonged Moped riding?

Um, no. That is WAY too much for crybaby Ellis. Remove Rudy and we can talk.

Brandon bitches now with Miller. Imagine what he would do with Ellis?

None of the above. Ellis isn't a "star" player. Many nights, he isn't anything more than an improved version of Damon.

Monta Ellis is a (very) poor man's Allen Iverson. Plus he disappeared completely the one time the Warriors made the playoffs.

Ellis doesn't shoot the deep ball very well, though. :) The dude is incredibly overrated.

Ed O.

I think Ellis would fit perfectly in Portland. He doesn't need the ball in his hands every possession and I don't think you'd see the issues that some of you have mentioned about Roy not liking playing with Miller. Roy would run the offense, Monta would guard PGs- perfect fit. He doesn't have much of an outside shot but he'd be your best guy at getting to the rim.

Also, when has he thrown anyone under the bus? It hasn't happened. He said 2 small guys in the backcourt wouldn't work, and he's right. He then talked about what a talented player Curry is. Apparently this fued with Nellie stems from Ellis trying to be a vocal leader and call out his team after a horrible loss to LAC and Nellie to him to shut up. Ellis did what you would hope a leader would do.

About him not performing well in the playoffs, he was 21, in his first year starting and playing major minutes, and contributed to one of the biggest upsets in NBA history.

But the package suggested wouldn't be close to getting him, IMO. I think Ellis has real value. He's a very good scorer, young, with a reasonable, level contract.

We don't need no stinkin' whiners.

Trade Miller for a real PG, then...
BAKE IT!

A good fit next to Roy is on Golden State and it's not Ellis, it's Stephen Curry.

We essentially need a PG who can shoot, a James Jones version of a PG.

If we had depth, sure. That depth is depleting. As for Ellis, I like him but don't think he is the right guy for this team. One thing I did notice is, Orlando is suddenly without their point guard. That might be a nice landing spot for Ellis.

I would do it for Ellis and Turiaf.

I think Ellis is better for our team than a PG like Miller, imo. I think our team has been better with Roy in control of the ball more. And with Ellis, when Roy is out Ellis becomes the main perimeter player. I think it would work out great, and I really like Monta as a person. Have for a while.

I wouldn't trade for Ellis, but I think I would do this

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yf43tj5

Out goes Blake, Outlaw, and Joel.

In comes Maggette and Turiaf.

Miller/Bayless/Mills
Roy/Rudy
Maggette/Webster
Aldridge/Turiaf/Cunningham
Oden/Turiaf

Rotation would be Miller, Roy, Maggette, Aldridge, Oden, Bayless, Rudy, Turiaf. I know a lot of people hate Maggette, but I think he can score consistently and I love Turiaf's game.

As someone who watches the Warriors I think that trade would absolutely kill this team. Maggette is certainly a scorer since he can get to the line at will, but that's all he does (literally). That trade would leave us with Rudy as our sole legitimate outside threat. And for a team that takes pride in and prioritizes spacing so much, I don't think it would work.

I like Turiaf though.

Surprisingly enough, we haven't been winning with outside shooting. We've been winning with grind-it-out offense and tough defense. It isn't exciting, but it seems to be working. Maggette and Turiaf would fit in that mold.
