Oklahoma City Thunder forward Enes Kanter said on Twitter that he's been getting death threats since Friday, following the failed military coup in his native Turkey.

Kanter, 24, took screenshots of the threats, which are written in Turkish.

"Death threats continue to fall," Kanter posted on Twitter, in Turkish. "Prayer does not stand still."

On Friday, a military faction launched a failed attempt to overthrow Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's regime.

After a terrorist bombing in Turkey's capital of Ankara in March, Kanter was outspoken against Erdogan's government. The attack killed 37 people and injured more than 100. Kanter criticized the country's blocked access to social media and the limited broadcast media coverage.

In June 2015, Kanter said he was left off Turkey's national team for Eurobasket 2015 because of his politics. National team coach Ergin Ataman said at the time that the decision was not political.

Become a U.S. citizen spend your money here.

Sanctuary!

This would probably qualify him for asylum status.

The secular Turks need to rise up. This is their only shot. If they let that dude go full-on Saddam they're screwed. It will take an invasion from a western power to dislodge him at that point, and we've seen how that goes. Change has to come from within. If they don't act now, they're done. Iran 2.0.

A regime change rebels best option is to hide out among the 500 most athletic men in the world; in the NBA - Obviously.

So radical Islam is officially spreading north. Which country will be next?

Moving this to actual OT. I have a hunch this isnt going to stay on basketball.......
