Ivan Johnson scored 30 points while grabbing 10 rebounds to propel the Erie BayHawks to a 113-104 win over Fort Wayne on Tuesday night.
Erie fell behind 10-4 early, but recovered to string together a 14-0 run and regain a lead it would never relinquish. Johnson scored 14 of his points in the second quarter as the BayHawks opened a 19-point lead.
Erie took a 62-53 lead into the half and expanded the advantage to 13 on a driving layup by Nate Linhart with 7 minutes, 42 seconds to play in the third quarter.
The Mad Ants trimmed the lead to two when Ryan Wittman nailed a 3-pointer with 27 seconds to play in the third quarter, but the BayHawks extended the lead to five points before the buzzer and then outscored Fort Wayne 27-23 in the final frame to hold on for the win.
