I've lived in SF & Marin for most of the last 25 years. Trust me, the Warriors have had their die hards throughout the Bay Area forever... they won a championship just a couple years before ours so the fire had been lit. Of course winning recently brought on a whole lot of new fans in the NorCal surrounding area, which includes 10+million more likely customers then just the Bay Area.Fair enough, although GSW was largely confined to Oakland until they started winning. Winning opened them up to SF bandwagon fans. But you can use CLE as another example, since they don't have a neighboring city the size of SF.
The point was nobody was a GSW fan until they won - now seemingly everybody is.
The State of Ohio has 2.5 times as many people as Oregon and the same amount of pro basketball teams. Restating a previous post, there are more Portlander's with Cleveland roots then vice versa. The City of Portland has a lot going for it and while we all love it we can also recognize the obvious reasons why it wouldn't be the favored child of the league. Numbers and business, nothing personal.
